You should read this.
Progressive
Let’s start, this time, with a story. This is about Hillary Clinton – everything I write seems to be about her these days – but it’s about me, too. It’s about what it means, to be a feminist, or a woman on the left, and whether it matters. So before I get to her, let’s give you a good look at me.
No matter how much of a Bernie Sanders supporter you may be (or a Republican, even), or how much you may dislike Hillary Clinton - please read it.
And you'll see why these things were what sprang to mind:
'It was usually an effective tactic, another one of those tricks I had learned: People were satisfied so long as you were courteous and smiled and made no sudden moves. They were more than satisfied; they were relieved - such a pleasant surprise to find a well-mannered young black man who didn't seem angry all the time.'

Also important in this context: Beyonce's Super Bowl performance. Although she is black AND a woman and she dares to be angry. Good on her.

No it's fine! And I know what it's like to type on tiny devices...
Putting that aside, I understand that bullying seems to be getting worser because of social media. I'm lucky that I grew up in an era before that at least.
New technology means people find new ways of being nasty. But also - re. your last paragraph - it helps them reach out in new ways. I'm not sure where I'd be without LJ, and I know several people that I've met here that I couldn't imagine my life without. It seems to foster community, unlike say Tumblr or facebook.

Its not fair that no matter what, people are going to choose to be bad despite what environment they are in or what resources they have access to.
I guess those who do the right thing are a way of counterbalancing the situation.
I still think bad people are just getting more cowardly and devious because they can hide behind a computer screen.
Those who get harassed by sms at least have evidence.
Businesses have to keep upgrading their security because people will always try and steal from them.
Anyway. It is nice to be reminded that their are still decent people in the world. Just having someone to talk to means a lot to me.
