I don't have time to reply to comments (yet), but having skimmed the thread for AOQ's review of 'Lessons' I discovered that there are people who don't think Crazy!Spike is drop dead gorgeous. So I felt compelled to make a poll.

I'm not desputing that he's utterly gorgeous naked. But the moment in Hellbound when he through sheer willpower got his clothes back? Fan-bloody-tastic!

Not disagreeing, I don't mind him dressed, I just don't want him to be hidden behind that coat. It cloaks his figure too much. It looks esp. bad in his fight with Illyria, and even worse when she stops time and has him stuck in the air, looks clunky.

JM was asked what he missed most about playing Spike and he replied the coat. Esp the way it made him walk. *sigh*

Because it illustrates perfectly what I mean - the coat *is* Spike. That image *is* Spike. When he puts on the coat in FFL he's become the Spike we know. And yes he's very, very pretty, but I don't love him because he's pretty, I love him because he's Spike. And he wouldn't be Spike without the coat.

(Btw. have you seen dualbunny's vid about Spike and the duster?

Can I just say 'ew'? Considering all the fights Spike gets into, all the sweat and blood and entrails that get splattered around, and he's been wearing that coat for 30 years? Non-stop?

(And for the record, *not* drop-dead gorgeous in my eyes, but then I'm more of a Willow fan myself. :)

Then he slobs around in his crypt in an old sweater until it's ready, and even then he usually gives the little yellow ticket to Dru and sends her for it, so he doesn't have to go walking the streets without it. But, um, the rest of the time he's a vicious animal. Really...
