There is also a movie about this, have you seen it? I only saw it in TV in German dubbing, but always wanted to get the DVD to see the English and French original language.

Did you know, after this, none of the men could fire on each other. They had to be shipped out to somewhere else and new soldiers brought in to replace them. It really makes you think that the war could have ended much sooner if we'd just treated each other like fellow humans.

Yes, I know. Which shows again that you cannot shoot at anyone once you have learnt their name and saw pictures of their kids. This is why I try to make friends with as many people as possible all over the world - thanks to LJ and the internet - if we just all get to know each other better then we will realize there is nothing to fear, but just to learn from the differencies - and find out a few similarities maybe as well. We are all people in the end.

I also think there would not be any wars if the politicans that think of them had to fight in them instead of the ordinary people.

I'm sort of conflicted, because it's an advert... But then, it's so gorgeously made. And shows the spirit of Christmas far better than penguins.

It's called "Merry Christmas (Joyeux Noël)" and it has actors from many different countries. A French, German, UK, Belgium, Romania, Norway and Japanese co-production.

Well I've seen it on TV, cut down, but it happened to play at the start of a youtube thing, and rather than click through after 5 seconds, I watched the whole thing.

It really is lovely. If not quite accurate, it certainly captures the spirit.
