Introductory post thing
I'm not good at this, but I figure it can double as a 'If you ever had any questions, go on and ask' posts.
So hello new people! (Also hello new people that just have added me quietly at some point. And hello lurkers! And hello old friends!)
I'm 37, happily married to an independent film maker, Darcy, (this is a new career path for him, but what he's always wanted to do - he finished an MA in film production last year, so he actually knows what he's doing!), and we have three daughters. Miss M (15), Impish Girl (12) and The Cherub (8). All good fangirls. (When we went to see Day of the Doctor in the cinema, Impish Girl and the Cherub cos-played as Eleven and little Amelia, complete with fez & little suitcase. ♥ Darcy is partially named so in my LJ for thinking all the fannish stuff is strange and peculiar - rather like the original Darcy viewed the Bennet family.)
I work fulltime in a local College (mostly 16-18 year olds) in an admin position. Oh and I live in England if that wasn't clear. (Used to be a stay-at-home mum when the girls were small, so I still wonder where all the time went.) Did a foundation course in Art a long time ago. Still love art, but love writing more, I think.
I don't tend to talk much about RL, as I lack the talent for making it sound exiting. Although the stories I could tell from work as something else. Should probably write a book, except I'd get sued. *g*
For fannish stuff, then there's links on my sidebar to selected fic/meta and Master Posts. Both BtVS/AtS & Doctor Who & Torchwood. Although my heart belongs to Eleven, I am still exceedingly fond of Ten, and he was the one who first made me fannish about Doctor Who. <3 My very small claim to fame is that I wrote an essay for Chicks Unravel Time.
In general fannish news, I'm currently trying to actually pull myself together and write the Clara meta I've been thinking about since Christmas. If you're curious, then the whole thing is basically summed up in my icon. (You can also go watch
purplefringe's Never Look Away and
niyalune's The State of Dreaming, which will give a good background to my thoughts.)

I am REALLY not good at talking about RL...
Things get odd online sometimes when you learn about the others' lives by bits and pieces.
This. You know all the important stuff (such as their opinions on fannish matters, and their shipping preferences), but only vaguely where they live (America? Somewhere in the middle?) and work etc (something in an office. And she has a girl friend.) ;)
I'm rather bad at RL talk too, I try a bit but it's generally boring, short-ish updates once in a while ;) Then again I don't have that much of a RL, lol…
Yeah, I feel the same way? And all the most interesting stuff I can't tell anyway because it's too personal.

How exciting for Darcy! And ohhh, the girls are getting so big! And older! And my gods where does the time go?!

I remember you being pregnant with The Cherub...
You know they are really old enough for you to leave them to Darcy for the weekend, in September, and come to Coventry for WriterConUK - then you could talk meta to your heart's content with people.

He's a producer, not an actor. Well, mostly - he's currently acting in a little student production. But. He is far more interested in being behind the camera. You are welcome to make producer-related jokes. (Oh god, we can't watch ANYTHING without him critiquing and analysing EVERYTHING. 'I wonder what camera they used for this?' 'The set designer is doing interesting things' 'Their sound guy should be shot!' 'If I was editing this...')

IKR? That seems like not long ago at all. And now she's this long skinny thing...

Oh, plenty old enough. And I've thought about it, but it depends on various factors that are still in flux.

You too! And I was born in Denmark, but grew up in the Faroe Islands (see these two posts).
Sounds like you're raising your kiddos right!
They're good girls! And love a wide selection of stuff, including (but not limited to) Doctor Who (obviously), My Little Pony, Adventuretime, Minecraft, Dan & Phil (youtubers), Ouron High School Host Club and other things I forget.
I look forward to the Clara Meta.
It's all about that leaf...

Anyway, yes, 'tis rather daunting. But he's making some money now, so that's good. :)

Crossing fingers for him, hope it'll work out beautifully!
I am still exceedingly fond of Ten
Ooh, it's such a relief to read that, you can't imagine. :)
Somehow the waves off the 50th Anniversary reached me at BBC America, I stumbled on "Silence in the Library" about 2 months ago and since then I'm just completely, madly in love with the show, and Ten.
I feel so stupid for missing out on all the fun and only discovering DW now. It's something wonderful and terrible and I don't remember crying so much in my life and Murray Gold has my soul and how is he making this Elvish music, it's too much for poor mortal me. :)
But the thing is - I'm a bit afraid to write about it or seek out the fandom, as I learned it's not quite a happy place and there're wars going on and what not. I'm too fragile now to dip in that, I just love all of it, and think it's the most amazing thing (saw some of 2nd, 4th and 7th, loved it to bits too).
I loved what little I saw of 11, but I'm totally spellbound by Ten's journey now, I mean crazily, and it needs to run its course. But I'll certainly get there (and loving River Song since that 1st episode really helps), and be there for 12th as well, finally catching up with the fandom. :)
And now I can go and read your meta, which I'm sure is gorgeous, without fear. :)
I'm going through Season 3 right now, in proper order for the first time, and wow, so much to think about!

Oh my goodness, what a place to start! (By which I mean - everything ties back to the Library omg. In Moffat Who.) Seriously, perfect, perfect episodes and Ten is just incredible. And Murray Gold OWNS MY SOUL. (The Greatest Story Never Told is one of my favourite pieces of music, ever. Except then he gets even better later on...)

COME TALK TO MEEEEEEEEEEEE! I love everything. And everyone. And have a ton of Ten-centric meta & fic (both my own, and stuff I can rec.). I live in a happy little pocket, because the wider fandom is indeed a scary place. ;)
I loved what little I saw of 11, but I'm totally spellbound by Ten's journey now, I mean crazily, and it needs to run its course.
My tag for Ten meta is 'Ten is meta catnip'. He's like Angel. But *more*. Dear lord, I wallowed.
But I'll certainly get there (and loving River Song since that 1st episode really helps), and be there for 12th as well, finally catching up with the fandom. :)
Well there's a good while until 12's episodes air, so you should be all caught up by then!

Heee. Rambly to the amount of Ten, though... And once you get to Moffat Who I really hit my stride.
I'm going through Season 3 right now, in proper order for the first time, and wow, so much to think about!
S3 was what got me properly hooked. And when I wrote my first DW-centric 10,000 word essay and realised that I was here to stay! *g* (From a Buffy perspective, then Russel T. Davies writes very much in the same way as Joss, so all the tools I'd developed for analysing Buffy & Angel could be transferred. Moffa then took that to a different level, because he is all symbolism & fairytales, but coming to the show RTD was a very good 'in'. Enjoy, and let me know where you are and what you'd like to read. I shall point you in the most interesting direction. *g*
