Birthday drabble.

A birthday drabble for [livejournal.com profile] jamalov29. She said that something set in s7 would be nice, and after a while, this is what I came up with. Spike's thoughts, somewhere around 'Potential'. (Sorry if I'm repeating what every other fic writer has ever written, but this was what my muse insisted on.)

I hope you like it. *hugs*

I am a part of her life.

Now and again I repeat it to myself, to make sure I’m not dreaming.

I live in her basement. This is my home now.

Sometimes I can hear them argue about me. They say I’m a liability - I’m dangerous. And she defends me every time. Says she needs me. Says I’m important. Says I can be a good man.

And she looks after me. Cares about me. She can be so gentle.

I don’t know if she’ll ever love me, but it doesn’t matter.

She treats me like a man. And that’s enough.

adoreable!

once again, i find myself looking down your fic-list and find just what I'm looking for.:) this little piece was pitch perfect! spot on, and so touching :sigh:

have you given any thought to writing the missing scene between showtime and potential, featuring nurse Buffy? This piece made me really notice how much I miss that. :pout: Joss was so mean not to give it to me:(

Thank you!

thank you so much for those links. you were right, they were beautiful. I have read and reread them already :sigh:

Healing was the best. simply stunning. capturing a rare amount of layers in the spuffy relationship. And the description of Spike's hair! Awwww. had me totally swooning:) I love it to bits. wish that had been included in canon:D

it's Spike mirrorimage however felt a bit harder to follow, especially when he's delirious in the beginning. but it had it's greatness too, especially when dealing with the sillyness of the BOTN near-drowning:lol: (that flaw in canon bugs me so much that I am glad someone's giving it a sort of plausible explaination.)

it was very fascinating to read that, and find that my interpretation of him in the Buffy POV most of the time really wasnt what he was actually thinking. wish I could have that opportunity with real people I know and love too, to first interpret them from the outside, and then climb into their minds to see if I got it right:lol:

Aww, sorry for bothering you with all these thoughts, but I really felt like sharing them with someone, and from reading the commentary field there, i got the impression that the author no longer answers comments...

ok:) then I'll ramble on some more:

"Spike's hair has most women swooning I think. ;)"

I find it very amusing, this habit JM has of making negative comments about his hair. about how it's unhandlable, undesireable, looks stupid etc. Surely he must know that we totally love it, no matter what shape, lenght or color he has it in :sigh: I guess I liked Spike's "I got a demon to tame"comment even better, because it made me think of all these cute complaints

"I *know*! It has been my personal canon ever since I first found it."
I think it might be mine too, from now on. Although I missed some description of initial, first aid wound care. (I found another fic which gave me that, but that ended in kissing. that pretty much ruined it for me)

there was however a few things in the Spike POV I have problems with, for instance that my Spike totally understood in NLM that Buffy forgave him.

as to the Christmas-fic you linked, I am almost sad it was put in christmas\Potential. It would have been an absolutely perfect missing scene from Chosen (so great that I would almost have considered changing my personal canon, to make it that story instead:) ) but as a post-Showtime, it didnt work out for me. too fluffy, and not enough of Nurse Buffy in it:)

"Although looking at pictures of him when he was younger I can see his point. But he was *very* cute!"

have you found any such?! *squee* I have a hard time coming across any from the pre-spike days. :(

you are right, he is adoreable! and so much... younger. do you know when it was taken? or the context? looks almost like a yearbook photo or something...
