Because I'm practically asleep...

Um, a conversation with [livejournal.com profile] jenjojen reminded me of this. A while ago we caught a bit of 'P&P' on the BBC, only it was a commentary by the director and, um, writer?, which proved very interesting.

The one thing that I really remember was that the director's theory (and direction to Colin Firth I believe), was that Darcy got a raging hard-on every time he saw Lizzie. Which is why he's always so very stiff and formal around her... ::dissolves into giggles::

Oh dear, I think I will blame the cold, which is still with me. Actually got a lot done today, but am now wiped. *yawn* Time to gather up the kiddies and dump them in the bath, then settle down with a nice cup of tea and some Christmas cake.

I read that somewhere too. Andrew Davies wanted some actual Naked!Darcy too, but they had to rethink because of the underwater shots. We nearly had Colin Firth in the altogether instead of the Wet Shirt - which I think would have been a great loss. Aesthetically, I mean.

I understand. They were going to have him strip off completely before diving into the water. When they decided to film underwater they had to rethink. But (and to me it's a big "but") if they had done that, he would have had to have been fully dressed in dry clothes again by the time he met Lizzie - and that's the best bit of all.

I agree that Naked!Darcy is a concept to cuddle close to oneself on a chilly winter's night...

If only I wasn't feeling so crappy I'd be able to enjoy my own Darcy... *sigh*

Poor baby. But remember, a Darcy is for life, not just for Christmas.

Hope you're feeling better very soon!
