More cards! :) Thank you to
annabelle528 and
kathyh whose cards arrived yesterday (squee!) and to
sweet_ali whose card came this morning (all letters should say 'Warning: Confetti' on the back! *g*). Have a wonderful Hanukkah dear! ::hugs::
And when I was (very, very briefly) looking something up on ff.net yesterday I came across this summary:
Ms Claus: Santa Claus is finally retiring and is leaving the reigns to his eldest daughter, Buffy. Everyone disagrees that a Ms. Claus would not a be able to fill in the shoes of old saint Nick, but Buffy has her own style that surprises them all.
Sadly this is not by
speakr2customrs, but don't you wish it was?
It's pretty much what you'd expect, but bless the little author's heart, she's trying. Now if only she could only get a grip on that difficult grammar thing...
A little excerpt:
Her [Buffy's] second favorite thing to do during this holiday is going shopping for toys. She had a North Pole Express card that was limitless. (The idea of it is hard to explain, so I won’t explain it.) Buffy had a knack for picking particular toys and had always told her dad that instead of making the toys, to buy them in the store like everyone else. He never agreed to such a thing, though some toys for very good kids, he would wave that as an exception.
And I *know* that I shouldn't mock, but here's the summary for another one of her stories (her name is Kat btw):
The 4th installment of my series that includes Switch, Kat Returns, and Another World. Buffy is pregnant with Spike’s kid? See Angel human. Meet Fred and Faith’s kids and find out what happens to Kat and Xander in the real world. Chapter 9 is up.
I think I'm in love... and I SO don't have time for this! Aaargh! ::runs away::

reporting back
Oh, my! I actually made it through several paragraphs before I gave up. Since it's your fault I read the darn thing, I'm inflicting them on you.
Her second favorite thing to do during this holiday is going shopping for toys. She had a North Pole Express card that was limitless. (The idea of it is hard to explain, so I won’t explain it.)
I suppose it saves time to avoid all that exposition!
Buffy had a knack for picking particular toys and had always told her dad that instead of making the toys, to buy them in the store like everyone else. He never agreed to such a thing, though some toys for very good kids, he would wave that as an exception.
Buffy is a smart young lady, petite for her age, but pretty like princesses from fairy tales. She is best friends with all the elves. The elves are a variety of sizes and Santa loves them all as if they were his children. Buffy was the size of the taller elves and she befriended two particular ones named Willow and Oz.
huh. I always did find Willow a tad particular!
The two were dating and had always hoped for Buffy to find a man of her own.
This is where I gave up, though I have to admit I love the idea of Willow and Oz as elves. BTW Santa is Giles. Uhm, yeah. Because he's always so jolly, I suppose...
In the author's defense I imagine she must be really young. Her author's profile basically lists the ships she likes, and includes "Xander/Kat(me)" and "Giles/Glory". My only response (really, the only possible response IMO!) is a resounding "Huh".
Re: reporting back
Re: reporting back
Sacrilege! Glory belongs with Wesley! Giles belongs with Drusilla!

I'm sure and certain he'd make a much better job of it than the somebody who doesn't even know how to use "disagrees" accurately!

Hee! The same thought had occurred to me...

So she is. Very trying.

OK, so I get to read quite a lot like that as part of my job. Usually I've trained them out of it by the time they're 13, though...
(I don't wave my exceptions either. Too much possibility of damage...)
Yes, I'm mean.
Now I've read some too!
Then there's this: On the second week of December, Buffy is already packing for her trip to the United States and a state called California. She had uncovered that this very state had a little town that has never been mentioned on any map called Sunnydale. The uniqueness of the town reminds her of her own home in the North Pole.
It reminds me of the uniqueness of the mess in my daughters' bedrooms too - does that count?
Re: Now I've read some too!
Oh dear. And now I'm trying to work out if that's better or worse than Buffy/Giles...
Although to be fair, she is almost writing original fiction, since her characters seem quite different from what we had on the show. *g*
Re: Now I've read some too!
The medic called Riley's interesting. I wonder when a vampire will appear..

And mean is good! My 7-year old already has a better grasp of language. (Of course she's not brilliant at spelling or thinking up long plots, but I sincerely expect her to be in a few years time!)

Hee! Shouldn't they just? I'm so glad it got you on time :)
And that author? I just have to giggle.

And I guess all writers have to start out small...
