And still my favorite companion! I saw an interview once with both DT & Catherine Tate; it was about that play they did together. You could just tell that the actors genuinely liked each other!
My cat died just over a year ago (he was getting on, and was unwell), but I still miss that furry presence that would stick its head into everything...
Aw, sorry about your cat! : ( Ours doles out her affection in small amounts, but it's funny when she does decide she wants to be loved RIGHT NOW. She was a stray when she adopted us, and as soon as the weather is good, she wants to be outside in the wild, killing things, and she brings us "gifts" from early spring right through almost to the beginning of winter.
I can imagine being a monk copying books in an unheated monastery, how nice it must have felt to have a warm cat curling itself around your legs. Though less fun when said cat would pee all over a manuscript that had taken you hours or days to copy. And LOL at the illustrations and the curses in Latin!

LOL!! That is awesome!! And it sounds like the cat who peed on his manuscript may have been making a bid for his attention: 'Hey, I gakked all the mice - come pet me, dammit!' *Laughs*
it beautifully illustrates why I love cats. (I sent it to my mother, as every single time we're on the phone she'll break off in the middle of a sentence to shout 'CAT!' *g*)
