British Exceptionalism

Via [livejournal.com profile] gillo.

With government ministers reportedly considering a negative ad campaign to deter potential immigrants from coming to the UK, the Guardian asked their readers for their tongue-in-cheek suggestions for what aspects of Britain should be included in the campaign. The weather, our transport network, and our politicians were all popular suggestions - here's the best of the posters.

This one might be my favourite (I especially like the inclusion of ITV3+1):

(This is especially funny from my POV, as I originally came to England in my gap year for a three month course, and... stayed. But that's probably a story for later. However, I can see both the outsider and the British side of things, and am amused.)

I heard the comment, but hadn't seen the posters. Hee! Very clever!

Granted, I'm from Oregon. We had a governor who-- on record-- told people "Welcome to Oregon, we hope you enjoy your visit. But please don't move here".
