I'm fine and marveling at the fact of POWER, whut? It went out for about four hours last night and then was BACK ON!?!?!?!? I can only assume that someone on my street is sleeping with the head of the utilities company, because literally nothing else makes sense.
I'm not on the coast, so hurricanes don't tend to really be dangerous provided you stay in, don't do anything stupid, and maybe don't have any bad luck with trees. The big worries are having to do without power (and for how long) and property damage.
I assume fall is over now, though, as I'm looking out the window and there are NO MORE LEAVES on the trees. I have to assume wet leaves are a good defense against Daleks, so I won't complain.

The big worries are having to do without power (and for how long) and property damage. I am actually familiar with storms - we get them in the Faroes and they're *bad*. But then everything there is built to withstand WEATHER, so the damage is usually not as much as it would be elsewhere.

But then everything there is built to withstand WEATHER, so the damage is usually not as much as it would be elsewhere. The Mid-Atlantic states are an interesting place to live. There's basically no category of weather/natural phenomenon that we *don't* get from time to time, but there's nothing that we get notably badly and/or are the worst place for. On the one hand this is good: variety! Not having the whole state destroyed! On the other hand, it can be bad, because we're not actually built or prepared for anything genuinely extreme, and thus are basically crushed whenever it comes along. For example: there's no way to justify the budget for having serious snow removal operations and thus end up crippled by things mid-westerners laugh at.
So that's the secret weapon the Doctor needed all these years! Nothing can withstand wet leaves; they are the universe's greatest menace.

Nothing can withstand wet leaves; they are the universe's greatest menace. And if you're unlucky they're the WRONG KIND of leaves, and that means they're even worse...
It's been oddly reassuring to see all the preparations though - people seem to be taking it seriously. (OK, so some are panicking, but mostly it seems to be good. Haven't checked the news this morning yet, mind you...)

Heavy rain here now, though no very bad wind or Daleks as of yet.

And I hope you're OK. *crosses fingers* (If Daleks show up, I'll start to worry.)
