Allison and Alexander. Thoughts illustrated with music.
So, there was New Who and Meta and ~Things~ which means I've not managed to get any fic writing done. Doesn't mean they haven't been in my thoughts...
Mind you, I have the Seeker's life planned out until age 500+ (/4th Regeneration), which will comprise at least three more stories (I have notes), so it's crowded in my head. But, when it comes to him and Allison I have a tendency to 'collect' songs. There's one particular one which has been 'their' song pretty much since I started writing the fic, but it's sorta spoilery (as are most of the other song I associate with them), so I shall only share this one for now. You probably know it, and it sort of took me by surprise - I just happened to listen to it, and began applying it to the two of them... and it was a perfect fit:
Since 99% of the fic is from Allison's POV, what might not come across very well is Alex's own issues and struggles (except as they impact her). So, to begin with, this is more or less exactly how he feels (well he doesn't blame her, but otherwise, this is Alex):
And then, this (italics mine, to emphasise how much he lets her in):
Then comes that last night at the circus, which is beautifully illustrated by this:
That whole first year he's there, but he keeps a distance, and they even break up without much of a problem (you know what I mean) - and get back together without either really knowing what they're doing or what they are. But then comes that night, and - although he doesn't tell the whole truth - he lets her in to an extent that he's never let anyone else (except Jack, but that's different). Which is where they're at at the moment. The interesting thing is that he has (in his own way) committed himself now - something she is of course unaware of.
Anyway, that was my current rambling. Any questions? Don't worry, I wouldn't dream of spoiling you. *g*

Inside out, upside-down twisting beside myself,
Stop that now, cos you and I were never meant to be
I think you better leave; it's not safe in here,
I feel a weakness coming on.
Alright then (Alright then) I could keep your number for a rainy day,
That's where this ends, no mistakes no misbehaving,
Oh, I was doing so well, can we just be friends,
I feel a weakness coming on.
It's not meant to be like this, not what I planned at all,
I don't want to feel like this, Yeah,
No it's not meant to be like this, not what I planned at all,
I don't want to feel like this, so that makes it all your fault.
And then, this (italics mine, to emphasise how much he lets her in):
Inside out, upside-down twisting beside myself,
Stop that now; you're as close as it gets without touching me,
Oh no, don't make it harder than it already is,
Mmm, I feel a weakness coming on.
Then comes that last night at the circus, which is beautifully illustrated by this:
No response on any level, red alert this vessels under siege,
Total overload, systems down, they've got control,
There's no way out, we are surrounded,
Give in, give in and relish every minute of it

He knows that's it's an impossible love in far too many ways, and yet... And yet he can't stop falling deeper and deeper. (Yet if he tells her the odds, will she stay? So he keeps hold of his secrets...)
