Back again...
Well I've been back most of the week, but I've been busy...
We spent all of Monday travelling, and then I was straight back to work Tuesday morning, so it's been a bit hectic. It was the most blissful holiday ever though, so I'm nicely rested. :)
~~~
Have been following all the news about the start of S7 [of DW] with great excitement, and am looking forward to more show very very much indeed. (Although I shall miss my Ponds more than I can express. *sniff*)
~~~
This will be the cutest thing you see all day.
~~~
Tried to keep up with the Olympics as much as possible considering that we were abroad, and rather loved the Closing Ceremony, because it was just fun. ♥ (Still wish I had the energy to write meta about the Opening, but alas. Although people should keep in mind that everything in the Opening Ceremony - trees and empire and fairy tales and magic etc etc - is all stuff that you need to keep in mind when watching DW. That's the stuff being referenced & drawn upon.)
Anyways, we've got tickets to the Paralympics (athletics!) so we'll get to see things for ourselves! \o/ (And we used to live in the East End when we were studying, and well remember the wasteland...)
~~~
Also I MADE A THING. It's a banner for Dating, as I began considering how ridiculously long it is, and that it deserved a banner. As my graphic skills are not so much, it's pretty basic, but I'm happy with it:

~~~
ETA: This is why I love the internet. Apparently Mitt Romney released an advert where he used a whiteboard. There are already two Tumblrs devoted to making fun of this! \o/ \o/ \o/
One with writing and one with drawings. Hysterical and awesome!
Not even kidding when I say I've got enough Caribbean Rum left to dedicate a single shot to them.
Good god I am totally pathetic about those two.Aww- that link. <3
And the link is just ♥
warning: that song is actually pretty depressing, and is just Charlie Brown singing about the question of why we have to always 'hello' with 'goodbye'. :(
Although- quick subject change- I'm hoping one of the episode titles means we'll be in for ot3 shenanigans.
And if I had better drawing abilities- I'd draw a comic of Eleven miniaturizing to the size of a 5-year old, and Amy ready-ing a lasso to throw around him when he wants to run over to the dinosaurs. xD
Well, let me try to reply to this, and see if that helps...
ETA: Success!
Amy was my first companion, so yeah- I definitely relate to being a mess about it, and the confusion.
Well they were hardly my first, but... PONDS. *cries*
And I wish my brain would stop making me remember this bit from 'Charlie Brown: Snoopy Come Home'.
Will have a look in a moment. I've never *watched* Peanuts (only read them), but I can image it being sad just from the title.
Oh I'm sure there'll be PLENTY of them. :)
They really should incorporate Eleven and co into Torchwood Babiez...
Really? Oh man, the holiday-themed ones are at least memorable. And 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' gets aired on the main public TV stations during the X-mas holidays every year. (I'm almost willing to forgo going ever going to church, and would rather just watch that). Though I can't remember if "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!" gets aired before Halloween.
If you wanna see- the cast of 'Scrubs' (a US comedy show (if you haven't seen it)- did an alternate-voiced 10 minute version of the Christmas special. xD
I know about this thanks to Buffy. :) (Although it's... pretty much unknown over here, as far as I'm aware.)
And oh, I know Scrubs! <3
(Must go again, am trying to be sociable...)
It always messes me up whenever someone reads that passage from Luke and it's not the King James version because obviously the one Linus recited is the REAL ONE and YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG! (Being Catholic, it's always the wrong one. I really feel like the Pope need to make some kind of exception on this because . . . come on!)
Going real technical- we really might not even have been reading the right words anyway (unless someone knows ancient Latin or Greek, and can verify that we're reading it correctly). xP
ETA: Re. the title for Episode 4, then ooooh, I can tell you more. I think it'll be one of my favourite episodes EVER EVER EVER. I'll probably want to pause the show right there forever.
TELL? PLEASE? *_*
And- as much fun as it can be laughing at Romney, and being disgusted with Paul Ryan- I'm finding it hard to keep up my optimism about Romney NOT be elected this November. I'm even thinking about asking my social therapist if she knows any close-by Democrat spots because I don't want to be around my (very Conservative) parents, that night, until the election's over.
Re. the PONDS, then I bought the DW magazine before going on holiday (it's so expensive, but I considered it a treat), and there was a long interview with Chris Chibnall (the writer of episodes 2 and 4) and this is what he had to say about ep. 4:
SPOILERS TO FOLLOW:
First of all, it's a proper big Aliens Invade Earth story, and it brings in UNIT and that - just on its own - is wonderful. BUT! It's also a 'celebrating Amy and Rory before they go' story, and told from their POV, and features Rory's dad AGAIN (he's in episode 2!!!) and... Here, let me quote:
'...because there are a lot of different components. It's quite difficult to unify them all. You're suddenly getting snatches of other adventures, that you see 30 seconds of.'
How awesome does that sound? And here's the other bit (it's a looong interview):
'Caro and Marcus wanted to do a very different contemporary Earth story than has ever been done before. A story focussed around Rory and Amy's years with the Doctor before their epic final adventure. A story that conveys scale in an unusual way. Then main focus is about the impact the Doctor has on the emotional lives of his favourite companions. Steven's brief was 'life with the Doctor' - The Man Who Came to Dinner, Doctor Who-style.'
All this has me thinking that it'll be vaguely like 'The Lodger', but with the Ponds instead.
I CAN'T WAIT. <3 <3 <3
Gosh, I love that Obama and Michelle love each other so!! This is sweet and wonderful and makes me nine kinds of happeh!
Love the banner!
And the Obamas are too adorbz for words, as well as being just... normal, y'know? It's such a wonderfully simple first date.
THANK YOU. The 'verse is eating my head, so...
Tumblr is very wise. [when it comes to Politics]
I feel sort of guilty for looking forward to Amy going away. I love Rory, but find Amy kind of grating. Go New Companion!
Glad you guys had such a great time, and pretty, pretty banner for an awesome story.
I can tell you her name?
Aw, thank you! I'm... halfway through the fic? I tried to work out how much was left, and I reckon there'll be about 20 chapters in all. Possibly more. /o\ Hence banner. *g*
