Fic: Time Crash Mark II (The Shippy Version). Epilogue.
OK so I wrote a little epilogue, because I always knew what happened afterwards, and it seemed churlish not to share.
Takes place immediately post-Time Crash Mark II (The Shippy Version) (and makes no sense without it!)
Summary: What happened afterwards.
Word count: 440 words approx.
Characters: Tenth Doctor, Rose.
Rating: PG.
Spoilers: None.
Epilogue
Bezoolium clutched in her hand, Rose happily skipped into the TARDIS as the Doctor held open the door. Brilliant day shopping - with only a minimal amount of Stopping Evil Things Doing Evil Stuff - and a pretty gift for her mum on top. This was the life!
No, wait. Stop. She was... She was standing by the console, and had to reach out to steady herself, as if she'd just been leaning into someone... It was like her arms were full of emptiness and why was she almost crying and... She looked around, deeply disturbed, and then her heart jumped into her throat as she saw the Doctor, passed out on the jumpseats.
"Doctor!" she called, dropping the bezoolium on the console and rushing forwards. "Doctor! Are you OK?"
He startled awake as she shook him, staring at her wide-eyed, and then pulled a face as if he was tasting something unpleasant.
"Rose - what happened?"
"I don't know - there was... I don't remember. But then I saw you lying there..."
He sat up, shook his head.
"Odd sort of taste in my mouth. And my head's..." he bent his neck this way and that, and her eyes narrowed.
"Hold on, this wouldn't have anything to do with that thing you insisted on trying at that market stall, even though you said it might be mildly poisonous?"
That earned her a very guilty look.
"Weeeell, that's quite a conclusion to leap to. Hang on-"
He jumped up, checked the controls, and raised an eyebrow.
"Hit a temporal pocket, I think. Just a little kink in the space-time continuum, nothing major, but it'd have messed with our heads just a touch."
He suddenly turned concerned, scrutinising her carefully.
"Are you OK?"
"Yeah I'm fine," she said, smiling reassuringly, because she was. Fine, that is. ‘Course she was... Why wouldn't she be?
However, that night she had the strangest dream. She was at a party - a Christmas party, with lots of aliens and dancing and fun... And then in the middle of everything, Cybermen turned up. But as everyone ran away screaming, a curly haired woman in a slinky dress and killer heels stepped into the fray with an enormous gun in her hands, and proceeded to destroy the Cybermen with great glee.
She almost told the Doctor about the dream, but somehow she could never find the right moment. (It was hard to justify how the woman was really cool, when Rose knew how much the Doctor hated guns...) And then it was too late.
Several years later when her team handed her their new gun - huge and black and quite, quite gratuitous - she almost gasped as she recognised it.
Instead she smiled grimly and simply said: "It's perfect".

I had never come across that particular theory... And I'm not sure I'd be a subscriber, partly because I just *adore* the idea of the Doctor marrying Marilyn. (In my own headcanon, Ten loses his virginity to Reinette, and Eleven his to Marilyn.) Plus I've got this whole Doctor/Marilyn/River 'verse, so... *g*
I think it's from before my time. ;) Judging by how it sounds, anyway. I don't actually know when it was released. But yeah, I didn't really recognize it. O_o *feels uncultured* But then, I don't really do ballads, so IDK. :P Just off my radar?
In which case I'm happy to have introduced you. Everyone ought to know Meatloaf.
Haha no worries! Just wanted to make sure you didn't miss. :)
Aw, thanks. It was truly a delight! ♥
I knowwwwwwwwwwwww! Clever people have been coming up with clever gif sets like that on tumblr. IT GIVES ME ALL THE FEELINGS. I weep for things that Could Be But Never Will. D:
Oh I read a fic somewhere... Will see if I can hunt it down. It was DELIGHTFUL.

I'm not sure I quite take it as head canon either, but I do like the idea of it, even read a fairly convincing and beautiful fic for it. It does make me smirk a little more when I watch it, though, to think of that. xD But yeah, I like the Doctor accidentally getting married to celebrities too, lol. I just find it funny more than anything. But I'm afraid I'm not on the OT3 boat; OTPs are more my thing. ;)
(In my own headcanon, Ten loses his virginity to Reinette, and Eleven his to Marilyn.
......LOL well, I don't agree with that at all, but thus it is head canon. ;D Otherwise not touching that with a long pole, it'll give me feelings. Of the non good kind. (I'm not in the crowd that views the Doctor as an intergalactic man whore.) But as I said; to each his own. ;)

It depends on the OT3. I think Doctor/Marilyn/River is *funny* but I also have a half-finished fic (which got jossed and will need re-writing or something), where it becomes terribly poignant.
(I'm not in the crowd that views the Doctor as an intergalactic man whore.)
Well I'm not either. Heck, I used to be in the asexual crowd. Except for Reinette... And now we know that, well, he does go there, I can slot in Reinette again and Marilyn too (because it's funny). Mostly I think he only sleeps with people he's married. :) (Reinette excepted, but then she was a professional courtesan.)
But yeah, canon is nicely fuzzy so everyone can decide for themselves what they think happened. Which is nice.
You're going to LOVE this.
Both Rose and River break time. (For a man they barely know, but love all the same, and who has influenced them their whole life.)
Rose breaks time when she saves her father's life.
River breaks time when she refuses to kill the Doctor.
In both cases the break happens because a man is alive who shouldn't be.
And here's the thing that really struck me - the Doctor is really, properly furious with both of them:
It was the word 'stupid' that rang a bell somewhere, and damn... Those are some amazing parallels.
In music thoughts, then all I've come up with is #1 Crush by Garbage, although it's maybe a bit too bleak? It'd be perfect for River, but it feels a little off for Rose. Unless you want it a little dark? *looks at lyrics again* No... I think it's River territory - the Doctor always believed in Rose just because. (Incidentally, if you wanted to make a TWoRS vid, then I have the perfect song: Somewhere a Clock is Ticking - I also just happen to love this song to distraction... *g*)
Re: You're going to LOVE this.
Haha you really want #1 Crush don't you? ;) I do think that's a bit darker than what I'd like to work with, and I agree probably more for River than for Rose.
And yes, Snow Patrols' Somewhere a Clock is Ticking is a great song; though I think that's probably one of the most overly vidded songs in existence. Not that that's stopped me before but. :P Yeah. xD
SOMEWHERE OUT THERE IS THE PERFECT SONG FOR THIS. I just has to find it. *Huff*
Re: You're going to LOVE this.
Yeah, me too...

It is so very perfect for River... I was just trying to make something fit, but it is much too dark for Rose.

LOL. The lyrics just fit so well that I'm itching to see images to go with them... But that's just me. Mostly I'm way too busy to even worry about it.
SOMEWHERE OUT THERE IS THE PERFECT SONG FOR THIS. I just has to find it. *Huff*
I'll have to look through my music collection...
Re: You're going to LOVE this.
I Would Do Anything For Love by Sarah Geronimo
Lovely and ballad-y. Doesn't have the boy/girl back and forth, but even just the basic song works better than anything else I've come across. I don't think any other song will give you this:
Some nights you’re cold as ice
Some nights you’re like nothing
I’ve ever seen before
Or will again
Oh and a Happy New Year!
ETA: Actually listened to Little Mix's Cannonball this afternoon (rather than just humming along with the tune), and it's rather lovely. (Lyrics here.) Also congratulations on all your winnings - they're very much deserved!)
Re: You're going to LOVE this.
And thanks for the congrats! I'm totally flabbergasted by it all. Wow. *blush*
Re: You're going to LOVE this.
And another Eleventy vid sounds fabulous. <3 <3 <3 There's so much there now!
And thanks for the congrats! I'm totally flabbergasted by it all. Wow. *blush*
And I STILL haven't read Blue River... *hangs head in shame*
Re: You're going to LOVE this.
THERE IS so much more Eleventy to work with! More twirls and awesome dialogue and and and just everything! *squee hands* I think I have a good song for it, I've just been putting it off... for a few reasons, but I'll jump on it soon I think. :)
Awww no worries about Blue River bb! I don't expect everyone to read all my stuff. ♥ ;)
Re: You're going to LOVE this.
Oh I'm good at getting where people are coming from. I even have the same thing with fics sometimes. Like... they might have all the right components, yet they just don't work for me.
IT MUST BE OUT THERE SOMEWHERE. >:D
It'll come.
Awww no worries about Blue River bb! I don't expect everyone to read all my stuff. ♥ ;)
Oh but I WANT to read it. I just want to have enough time to enjoy it properly. Which - also speaking of Eleventy and vids - reminds me of my latest meta, which unfortunately is rather long, but might help inspire you?
Re: You're going to LOVE this.
Awww well no rush. Whenever you get to it, you get to it. :) And I hope you'll enjoy it when you do.
Which - also speaking of Eleventy and vids - reminds me of my latest meta, which unfortunately is rather long, but might help inspire you?
Ah, I scrolled through it but I didn't actually read it. I've been sick so I've been pretty lazy about basically everything. I would like to do a more heavy duty Eleven character study, but the one I was talking about would be a more light hearted one, kind of like Eleven is Cool - Round 2. Which is part of the reason I've held off on it; I kind of worry that it would be too similar, too alike, not really new or different... IDK, IDK. We'll see. :P I don't know if I'll do it or shelve the song for something else (Sherlock s2 once its done maybe? IDK! I'm getting ahead of myself.)
Re: You're going to LOVE this.
*gasp* Blasphemy! It is the most wonderful, fun, fuzzy-feelings, escapist stuff you could wish for <3 And terribly clever to boot. I'm sure your family can make due with sandwiches for tea tomorrow or something *nods*
