Random things.
- First of all, would anyone be so kind as to make me an icon from this cap? (Or a better one of the same image - it's a bit fuzzy and I'd love a clear one. It's somewhat spoilery btw) No text or anything fancy, just that one thing. ETA: No worries, my flist is awesome!
- In children-centric news, then the Cherub had a nightmare about the Silence the other night. ♥ And the next evening she was worried that maybe they were on her ceiling. (And she just kept forgetting them...) HOW CUTE IS SHE? I pointed out to her that they're like 7 feet tall, and if they were on her ceiling she'd walk into them. That reassured her somewhat. *g*
- This will also go in my meta in more detail, but I am just so incredibly pleased with my show. RTD spent 4+ years breaking the Doctor (and, like you know, I'm all for holding people over volcanoes and see what they're made of), but Moffat has fixed him in 2! He systematically took him apart, addressed every single issue, and then carefully put him back together - and here he is now, the Doctor. Just the Doctor. It's a thing of such beauty that it literally brings tears into my eyes. (Shut up. But it does.) Oh and I love River forever and ever for the role she played in it.
- Speaking of the finale, then this might be the single cutest thing to come out of it. (Minor spoilers... If you're avoiding stuff, avoid this, I guess.) But honestly. SO CUTE!
- I'm sure there was more. Will edit the post if I remember.

I played about a little to sharpen the image and with colours a little. Help yourself!

But fun!

But with the cap you posted I doubt most makers would think to icon it. Most makers have always have an image of a person in an icon, unless they make stock rather than fandom icons.
I could see that image as part of a blocking icon maybe? Drawing the narrative parallel between chess' checkmate and the Doctor's feelings that he had been "checkmated" into a fixed point death maybe? But alone I doubt most iconners would have gravitated towards the image and hence you wouldn't find an icon of it out there. *shrugs*

And it's OK, because my flist is AWESOME and I already have lots to choose from! :) It's... sort of the central image of the whole thing, really. And no, it's not that he's been checkmated, not at all! (You'll see when I post me meta!) Anyway, it's just funny, because so often I have specific icon ideas that no one else ever seems to have thought of - but then I tend to come to them from a meta POV, rather than an image one.

But seriously, I feel exactly the same about this episode and Moffat's run and just... everything. :3

No more Lonely God... The Doctor is neither lonely (hello there wife & family!), nor a god (and boy was that point hammered home throughout S6)... he's just a mad man with a box. :)

Must agree on the breezy and elegantly written part. I want to quote everything he said about "Smith and Jones" right back about this episode. It feels easy and slight and that's because of the massive, massive brilliant underpinnings beneath it.

Aside from everything else Moffat has done, I will forever thank him for that. Eleven was my Doctor from TEH, but he's mine even more now.
