Miracle Day ep 8.
Catching up, slowly.
Twas OK, and we began to get answers and that was neat (I'm not expecting there to be big twists or anything by the way. It'll be something RTD-y and that's fine). Although (to be callous for a moment) the whole categories set-up is... well, it works. I mean, you have this whole 'OMG NO ONE CAN DIE!' scenario, but then the Families (one presumes) have a solution all ready. All that's needed is to burn Categories 1 and 0, and the world can continue almost as before - the only extra burden would be those who stayed alive after dying (like Rex), which would mean a fair bit of adjustment, but not hugely overburden the world. Mostly I'm not quite following why everything's going to pot, when the solution is already in place... If they hadn't kept it secret everything would probably have worked out better.
Oh and there was stuff with Jilly and Oswald and things and Alien Technology and Jack got to make Important Speeches about how Humanity Shouldn't Have This Because It Would Endanger History, and it was a teeny tiny bit like they remembered the actual show. (ETA: Mind you the way in which the alien tech had been acquired - as well as the reason behind it - made next to no sense, but that's sort of beside the point. There Were Speeches To Be Made!)
ANYWAY. Jack went to see Angelo and there was a nice quiet moment, which Jack then made ALL ABOUT IANTO and my shippy little heart overflowed. I think that ep 7 is probably meant to be during Jack's slow path years, which makes no sense continuity wise, but is DELIGHTFUL when viewed in the context of 'Ianto Was Jack's Only Significant Other'... ("Did you see him? Ianto? You would have liked him... Or maybe not. Maybe been jealous...") The Only One. <3 <3 <3
Like I said, I'm shallow.

I mean, like Torchwood was letting him off their leash during those years? And everything else you were saying...
I believe Angelo was almost a rebound. Jack's next attempt for another Ianto-like relationship. He wanted to connect with someone.. and he'd finally grieved and moved on.. that doesn't mean he doesn't still think about Ianto.. and he knows his own personal timeline, and knows Angelo would've/could've seen younger Jack with Ianto :)
Anyways, yeah, it's getting somewhere...but it's sooooooo slow.

Oh of course. And yeah, the slow path thing doesn't make any actual sense, but they just seem to have kinda forgotten about his away-years. I mean, I much prefer if that's what it's supposed to have been, but I'm not counting on it?
Oh, I don't care. I like for it to have been a rebound (which backfired rather spectacularly) and then timey-wimey-ness of things in that case, but eh. Jack made it all about Ianto, so I'm happy.

Oh yes. I almost wrote that it's the anti-CoE. I mean, that week was... I can't describe it. The days felt like treacle and the NEED for knowing what happened next was only matched by the worry. This? I took two weeks to get round to this ep, and I had to tell myself very sternly to watch, or it'd disappear off iPlayer before I knew it...

I liked the bit about Jellyfish, after LKH.
And the Null fields, which provided them silence.
This is not a lot to write home about.

I sort of wish they'd never made more, and Miracle Day has confirmed that. I'm watching because I'm a completist, but I would be lying if I said I actually cared about anything, other than a mild curiosity to see how it all ends. It's nice to see Jack, but most of the time he's been on mute, and the story is like treacle. *shrug* I got Ianto references this time, and that's like 500 times more exciting than anything else. ;)
ETA: Oh and hello and thanks for the friending! Welcome to!

Doesn't it just. I've seen the finale, so I know how it ties in.
Mostly I'm not quite following why everything's going to pot, when the solution is already in place...
That's rather like modern society though. Just look at the stock market volatility in the past few weeks. Once the world situation is desperate enough, anyone who makes a modicum of sense can sweep in and rule almost unchallenged.

Well it's good to know that it DOES tie in... :)

Sad, but true.

Well you will actually get answers in ep 8 (well, the beginning of answers), so be sure to keep your eyes tightly shut until then! :) (I miss my show...)

You're just lucky I'm naturally tolerant and curious, cause you're a right menace ; )

Well my show died, and I got a wonderful radio play which gave me closure... It had good innings.

Here, I shall spoil you: Gwen does cool things and RTD likes ~angst. There were feelings.

ETA: I - see what you mean. (I'm currently listening to the commentary for Time of Angels. *wistful sigh* I need more Moffat... You know, Moffat talking about stuff, all laid back and reassuring and things.)

That would be nice, wouldn't it? *frets* I need this season done. And as amazing as that episode was, I still haven't felt like rewatching it and am starting to doubt that I will for awhile, which is pretty much unprecedented. I'd like something right now that doesn't fill me with a sense of helplessness :-\

And also this vid. ♥ ♥ ♥

(I haven't seen that one--that looks really good. Must be back when I'm more in the mood.)
(Un)happy fic writing to you! (Whichever is more appropriate for fluffy angst . . .)

And that vid is just LOVELY. A sort of 'I love the whole 'verse' vid!
Oh and what did you think of the end of chapter 1? /nosy (ETA: What I mean is - thank you.)

*quickly rereads* Very good--real gut punch as you said. Did read last night, but you put it up right after the episode and, well, it was just more angst . . . But that's me. I think it's really good.

I was SO PLEASED when I thought of it... (Writers are evil. I know, because I am one.)

Oh I understand absolutely. I will have a happy ending - well as happy as possible in the circumstances - but it won't be angst for angst's sake. (Sorry to throw more angst at you btw. I keep skipping ahead to Marilyn...)

Did you see that article owl linked to . . . "25 Ways to Torture Your Characters" or something like that? It was a thing of beauty.
(Sorry to throw more angst at you btw. I keep skipping ahead to Marilyn...)
No, no don't worry about it. I'll ignore what I need to. Am much improved with Star Trek and rap music. And a vague desire for the season to end with everything blowing up, but we've all been there, yeah?
