I can put up with a lot.

But. People. Its WRINGER. With a W! A character does not 'go through the ringer, because that would MAKE NO SENSE, unless maybe they were in a bell tower, and non corporeal, and could thusly walk through the bell ringer.

Even worse is someone ringing their hands. (Yes, I have seen this. I am still stuck between being appalled and laughing my head off.) What do they think they're writing?

This post brought to you by a brief venture outside my flist.

(Also: Ad nauseam and dammit, now we're here. Have I mentioned how I am not good with mornings? Grrrrr. Die, mornings, die.)

But, so as not to have infected you with my grumpiness, have a FABULOUS fic where Martha meets Eleven:

Strangers with Bow Ties by sciathan file.

Even worse is someone ringing their hands.

Huh. So that's the sound of one hand clapping.

What do they think they're writing?

Ride a cock horse to Banbury Cross
To see a fine lady upon a white horse
With rings on her fingers and bells on her toes
She shall have music wherever she goes.

Except in this case she's got bells on her fingers, and possibly rings on her toes...

See I hate when someone has a brilliant idea, one that you would love to see explored. Then you click on the story, and the writing is so bad you can't read the story and the idea is ruined for you.

*lifts coffee in agreement with the idea that mornings should die* Of course it's afternoon there now.

One of the better things about teaching ninth graders is that their writing is chock full of phrases they've always heard but never seen written and which they have heard wrong. It's always adorable and frequently hilarious.

These tend to be a lot more flagrant, though. And, well, they are only 14.

I feel your pain.

((hugs))

This will probably make me sound like a loon, but I always type "dammit" because it goes against my deeply ingrained teaching from my mother to never say "damn it." Because, you know, that's damning things and very close to taking the Lord's name in vain and shame shame shame. So that is to me the same as saying "gol-darnit" instead of "God damn it"- a sort of get out of jail free card in the swearing department. I mean, even typing those words as examples makes me feel like I'm breaking rules. :) But heck, I'll say fuck all the live-long day.

I know, loonish. But there you go.

"bear"/ "bare" confusion bugs the heck out of me; I feel your pain.

Though I have to say the mental picture of someone "ringing" their hands amuses me!

Hee! I have a colleague who is always writing "bare with me" in emails, and I think, really? What, here? Now?

;)

That, and "grin and bare it".

Being eaten alive by work, and other things. But good, apart from that!

And unable to master basic LJ, apparently. ;)

*giggles with you*

I LOVE HIM! I can't help but laugh every time I watch him flail--erm, I mean, RING HIS HANDS. ;)

I am so - so - behind with everything, and even this evening when I suddenly have a free hour, I am stuck in last week because the Radio Times has told me to hide from Doctor Who spoilers.

I am enjoying last week though! I do love a chance to bemoan homophone mix-ups. "Here here" is one that upsets me greatly.

::waves:: I hope all is good with you xx
