God, this thing looks absolutely gorgeous. I fear my expectations for it are ridiculously high, and I've stopped trying to contain them.

Don't contain them! Live high on expectation and then revel in the delight of finally seeing it - I mean, it'll be Christmas, you'll be full of good food & drink. Every thing looks lovely in that light. :)

I have not, really, but I think you are right. Some things just can't be faked.
DT dresses a lot like his Doctor except more colourfully... Apparently a *lot* of people over the years have thought that he was gay because of his clothing choices, when he just likes interesting outfits. :)

For icons generally try dwicons (their tags are marvellous), or elevenicons. For Rory specifically I can recommend 1erecedwardfan - her Rory tag is here. :)
