The thing about the rehashing is that comics add nothing new to stories that were already told on the show. Exactly. I think this is why it's so fan-ficcy (in the bad sense) - it's all turning in on itself, with a cracktastic plot added to get everyone to do stuff that'd otherwise be OOC.
I think that's a big part of the problem. It's a big rule of fanfic and sequels... go with the characters that brought you to the party. The people came because they wanted to see more of those characters, and when they are acting like total strangers on crack, you begin to wonder what in the hell is even the point.
