So, it turns out that I like sub-textual frosting...
Pre-view for #37.
The subject line (for those puzzled by it) is a reference to this post by the inimitable Barb, and basically means that I am a total sucker for Spuffiness.
(Shut up. I have ZERO expectations that it's going anywhere, but... *deep sigh* They're so good together.)

I don't get good vibes from that, myself. :(

I've never taken the trouble to look at a comic in RL, let alone buy one. My disinterest in comics generally has stood me in good stead too, going by what I've read about them on LJ. My impression of the comics is that many elements of the story line seem utterly preposterous and completely disconnected from the canon of the show in plot and characterization. I'm not familiar with what Spike's role has been so far, nor have I read what Joss apparently had to say about it. Nevertheless, it feels as if I've gotten the gist of it, which is to say, it's disappointing (big surprise). This only reinforces my skepticism of any crumbs he ever deigns to toss our way.

::is beyond repair::
in my head they've been together for years, anyway.

Those panels are just win. The snark, the back-and-forth, and is it completely crazy that I actually SEE the chemistry bouncing off the pages?
And HOW much do I love that in one panel, Buffy's resting her head on the back of the chair and just, *staring* at Spike.
Clearly I am a deluded, over-optimistic shipper. Whatever. Subtext FTW.

Tho I read tons of fic, somehow this feeds that part of me that would desperately love to "see" them together one more time (but there is no end to that really).
Though in my mind they have been together for years as someone else said (and thanks Barb, and you other talented fanfic writers out there for providing many hours of enjoyment along those lines.) I hadn't seen the cake and broccoli post either and that made me laugh out loud so thanks for that too.

I have this crazy desire now, next time I get to see James Marsters, to bake my virtually carb-free chocolate cupcakes and offer some to him in exchange for him reading out that line as Spike and letting me tape it so I can use it as my ringtone. :D
I'm with you on the not really expecting this to go anywhere at all, but I am just stupidly happy that they seem so comfortable and natural with each other. This is a partnership, not just a relationship.
