Chapter 3
As he awoke, the Doctor’s blurred vision could just make out an orange fog laying over his head.
“Oh no.”
Feeling as though there was no hope, he stood up, sadly. No happiness ever came from meddling, as always.
The cloud had found him, and he was immortal.
He wasn’t angry. He was just incredibly sad and unhappy. Closing his eyes seemed to help a bit, because he could kid himself he was somewhere else - maybe Earth, with Amelia.
Amelia.
He dashed off, remembering the little girl he’d promised himself he’d look after.
Elsewhere, Amelia also was waking up. She sighed happily - it was like she was lying on the softest bed in the universe. Looking down she realised it was just moss.
This put her off slightly, so she attempted to sit up - and flumped back down again.
“What on the -”
She was chained to the floor. Two rings encircled her small wrists, making it impossible to move.
The Doctor wasn’t running now. He took long strides, left, right, left. In the distance he could see movement, someone laying on the floor-someone with red hair.
He picked up speed, faster, faster...
WHACK!!
A punch from one of the aliens sent him flying.
The young girl sighed as the Doctor was put in chains beside her, struggling and kicking out.
She blew her hair from her face in an agitated fashion as the Doctor finally conceded. It was going to be a long day.
After a while of embarrassed silence Amelia decided to forgive him. She could never stay angry with a man who was whistling and trying to twiddle his thumbs, manacles or not.
“What’s going on?”
The Doctor looked awkward.
“Well, nothing, because- because...”
Trailing off into silence, a tear streaked down his cheek, and Amelia worked out the situation in seconds.
“It didn’t touch you, did i-”
The Doctor cut her short.
“Oh yes it did. I was knocked out by these fools,” he gestured to the strangely ape-like creatures, ”meaning I couldn’t stop it.”
He was downright miserable, Amelia could work out that much, at least.
“Who wants to live forever?” the Doctor sang. It was supposed to be a joke, but Amelia could see that truthfully it was plea for help.

I especially loved how grown up Amelia is, compared to Amy who can behave like a child at heart - nice role reversal!
But then, that's so very poignant, the Doctor needing her help. And true. *hugs them both* Poor little guys...!
Another great update, Miss M. *excited to get the first post*

I am filing "flumped" away in my mind to use frequently whenever appropriate.
She could never stay angry with a man who was whistling and trying to twiddle his thumbs, manacles or not.
*grins* He would do that, wouldn't he?

Ummm. Flumped isn't actually a word, according to my spell check. Just hope your spell check thinks differently!
Oh yes. Twiddle Twiddle.

LOL. No, I don't think anyone could stay angry with someone trying to do that.
