My favourite news story from last week.
In case there's someone who hasn't heard it! (From The Sunday Times, although it has been all over.)
Two late-night drunks attacked a pair of cross-dressing men, but got more than they bargained for when their victims turned out to be professional cage fighters on their way to a fancy dress party. [I think it was a stag do.]
Daniel 'Lionheart' Lerwell, 23, and James 'Lights Out' Lilley, 22, were walking through Swansea late at night when they faced taunts of "Nice dress, gay boy!" from two men. One then threw a punch at James, who was wearing a pink wig and hot pants. James and Daniel, wearing a short black dress, suspenders and stockings, felled the attackers. After retrieving their handbags, the cage fighters left the culprits dazed on the ground.
Daniel, 13 stone and a trained plumber, said he'd been particularly proud of his appearance as his mum had helped put on his make-up. "It's a sorry state of affairs when a guy can't safely walk down the street in a mini-skirt and make-up without getting grief from some idiot."
And here's a video - go to around the 1 minute mark. :) (Using my Ianto icon, since obviously Welsh men are made of awesome!)

Further proof that the universe is filled with unexpected surprises. Couldn't have been more well deserved.

I wanted to spread the cheer - glad it worked! :)

(I'd give a lot to know what the Daniel said to the one guy when he had him by him by his chin on the ground)

Dunno, but it's nice that there *are* good stories! :)

And from the Oxford Dictionary:
'A young lower-class person typified by brash and loutish behaviour and the wearing of (real or imitation) designer clothes.'
I guess the nearest American equivalent is 'Trailer trash' or 'white trash'.

White trash are sometimes called "hicks" and not all of them are racists or sexists but definitely louts who brawl and commit petty crimes, ref. "Trailer Park Boys".
I call these types assholes. Story, young man who worked for me who wore a dress told me this, "I was walking home and a car full of young football types stopped their car and yelled, 'Hey, you, faggot, how would you like us to beat the crap out of you?' I answered them with, 'No, I wouldn't like that much and it wouldn't make you boys anything but assholes'.
Thanks for the def. I thought maybe it was an abbreviation of Chauvinist.

FAKE designer clothes. Cheap knock-off that they think look good. :)
Rose could, if you were uncharitable, be classed as a 'chav'. (Oooh boy, I still remember the fury when Cassandra called her that in 'New Earth'.)
But basically - poor, working class (possibly not actually 'working'), easily identified by clothing. Yet another subgroup in the English class system.
Might be racist, bigoted etc, but not necessarily.
And thanks for the story! :)
