Being Human 2.3
Apart from all the other reasons I love this show, I love it for consistently following through. If they set something up, they go there. Every time. Grown up telly rules!
Starting with the lighter parts though, the combination of George and Annie is *utterly* irresistible. The whole bedroom scene (it’s hot water!) was just wonderful, as was her sudden determination to ‘use her time well’ (because she thinks she’s going. *hugs her*). The whole fake dating made me *cringe* (omg the poem!!!), but it made me hopelessly happy that it actually *worked*. That amidst all the angst, two people found each other again, and were happy. Oh, and the George & Hugh bonding session was fantastic!
Also loved how both Annie and Mitchell, each on their own way, told George to pull himself together. They all have the most brilliant dynamic, and the big argument was utterly perfect. (Arguments are a tricky thing to pull off on TV, but here everyone was just right, and their reactions made sense. I wish I had LOTS more icon spaces, because Mitchell with the Marigolds was fantastic!)
But of course, it was Mitchell’s story that made me flail. I can’t *begin* to describe how much I loved the story - how he tries to keep things together (because there’s obviously no one else) and how well it’s been set up in the previous episode(s). He might be ‘clean’, he might be trying to live as a human, but he’s still a vampire, he still belongs in that world, and he doesn’t deny that for a second. It sets the show very nicely apart from the world of BtVS/AtS, where vampires (except members of the same family, or those in love), quite happily dispatch each other.
We see the difference illustrated with Daisy & Ivan. When they turned up we thought we knew them, but they’re not Spike & Dru - or Angelus & Darla. Ivan helped Carl because looking after their own is what they do. It’s not particularly out of affection, but partly because if one of them is discovered, they all are, and partly because they’re kin. They stick together.
And I loved the whole system that Mitchell resurrects - the undertakers, the keeping people in line (I also have a great, great love of characters saying ‘Do you know who I am?’), because he wants to keep both vampires *and* humans safer... Oh the road to hell is indeed paved with good intentions. (And the punishment of Cara (sp?) was just chilling.)
Long Live the King.
(Coming back to Ivan and Daisy I am very pleased that she has turned out to be the real troublemaker, the chaos element. Does she have a plan, or is she just revelling in what’s happening? I’m looking forward to finding out.)
And then the ending... We had all anticipated where Nina would end up. Of course the shock was seeing Lucy! Have I mentioned how much I love the writing on this show? Because I’d been wondering what she saw in Mitchell - I mean he’s obviously goodlooking, and friendly, but he’s only a porter... I began worrying a bit when she mentioned going to the chapel (and being so very interested in the vampire victim), but this reveal is all made of too much awesome. :) Yay for good plotting! Also yay for having a friendly, charming person as the 'Big Bad' - the old guy was rather a cliche, but I can totally see Nina trusting Lucy.
Which reminds me - what happened to Chaplain of Awesome? Guess they got him fired/moved. :(
And that's all I've got time for! *runs away*
ETA: Also, Mitchell is *delusional* if he thinks he can stop them from feeding. Although it fits nicely with his character, and his background. Wish we could see a flashback from before he was turned...

If I could, I probably would too! (I sat around, refreshing
Yes, Mitchell is delusional for thinking (as he clearly does) that he can keep things together. The system is evil and wrong, and that's going to grind away at his conscience. And the world is going to notice, especially with the "initiative" people snooping around.
I *know*. But it's so easy to see why he tries, even though everyone can foresee calamity.
But Mitchell does High Drama well, and I'm looking forward to watching.
Oh yeah. :)
I sooo did not see Lucy as the Big Bad coming. It all sort of makes sense when you think about it though; makes me reevaluate the first couple of episodes!
Same here. And apparently she was the person OldGuy called up in the finale of S1, to report that 'they'd fond them'... *happy flailing* And I love the fact that now she and Mitchell are the leaders of opposing groups. The symmetry is wonderful.
And I just adored Mitchell and George bonding over their TV show changing timeslots. That was hysterical, and very believable!
*nods* And I'm sat there thinking 'You need to get cable so you can watch it on replay!' and wishing I could talk to them...
::loves my shiny vampire show::
Sooooo shiny. ::pets it::
