Our polling station is in an Evangelical Free Church. On the wall there is a poster with Romans 14:12 in large bright yellow letters against a black background:

So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.

I think this is a very, very good message for people to contemplate as they ponder where to put their X.

Re. Obama's speech then I love this post which shows people from all around the world watching him - like snapshots of history, and the way we are all connected. (I might have deeper thoughts if it wasn't so early.)

Finally (and I did wonder whether to link to this, but...) some of the blackest humour you'll ever encounter: The 83 Waterboardings of Abu Zubaydah by The New York Observer. It was released by the C.I.A. at the request of Vice President Dick Cheney in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of enhanced interrogation techniques approved by the president.' (Yes it's dark. It's also very, very funny.) *hides*

Can't watch the Daily Show clip—internet is smart and can tell I'm in Canada, and so instead of the clip it gives me a sternly worded link, "In Canada the Daily Show is available at the Comedy Network." But it links me to the Comedy Network homepage, not the specific clip -- so unless I want to spend ages hunting down the specific clip, I'm out of luck.

Um, not your fault! I run into this problem pretty much every time somebody posts a Daily Show clip. So annoying!

Sometimes that happens to me too (being in the UK), but most of the time I'm OK - don't know why that is so...
