Our polling station is in an Evangelical Free Church. On the wall there is a poster with Romans 14:12 in large bright yellow letters against a black background:
So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.
I think this is a very, very good message for people to contemplate as they ponder where to put their X.

Re. Obama's speech then I love this post which shows people from all around the world watching him - like snapshots of history, and the way we are all connected. (I might have deeper thoughts if it wasn't so early.)

Lowering the tone, then Jon Stewart continues to be amazing: Jon Stewart brings you "the moment that epitomizes everything that is wrong with Dick Cheney, his arrogance, the media, their acquiescence, and the delightfully witty relationship between the two."
Finally (and I did wonder whether to link to this, but...) some of the blackest humour you'll ever encounter: The 83 Waterboardings of Abu Zubaydah by The New York Observer. 'The following is a transcript of notes taken at the interrogation of Al Qaeda operative Abu Zubaydah. It was released by the C.I.A. at the request of Vice President Dick Cheney in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of enhanced interrogation techniques approved by the president.' (Yes it's dark. It's also very, very funny.) *hides*
