Fannish things. :)
Firstly, then apparently Amazon is made of fail. From what I hear they are trying to fix it (although not explain or apologise). This does not surprise me.
But onto better things - we had a 'No TV' rule during Holy Week, which actually worked rather well. The kids complained only the tiniest bit and then got on with entertaining themselves (& sometimes being bored). The rule only became awkward at the weekend when it necessitated a fair amount of recording stuff. But it paid off as we watched Doctor Who & Red Dwarf in one long marathon last night! :) Spoilery comments under the cuts:

Here's the thing. Much of this episode was kind of a re-tread of other themes and speeches we've seen, and some of the imagery was straight out of Midnight. And I honestly don't care. Like, at all. David Tennant sells that shit like nobody else and if he wants to make another point about how ordinary human life is the most important thing in human existence, for example, I will sit at his Chucks-clad feet and listen. I'm not proud of this, okay, I'm really not, on a very deep level. But I love the Doctor, I love the way he reacts to the crazy shit that humans pull, I love the things he says, and I missed him!
So yes, I enjoyed it muchly. Doctor ILU!Lara croft Christina was fun, although I think one adventure was just about enough. As Donna once wisely said, the [10th] Doctor needs someone to stop him, and Christina is not right for that role at all. (Can't understand people grumbling about his 'No more Companions ever!' line - Ten *won't* have another one. Eleven is a different matter altogether.)
Also liked UNIT - it's lovely for the Doctor to have that link. And Malcolm was *adorable*, although probably best in small doses! *g* (Seeing Jack would obviously have been AMAZING, but there really was nothing Torchwood could have done - especially since the Doctor disabled Jack's teleport. ::sigh::)
What else? Oh - 'I'll just step into this Police Box and arrest myself' is *still* making me grin, although 'He will knock four times' is of course lot more significant... (Dun-dun-dun-dun - I am totally expecting the Master to show up until it is proven otherwise.) (If the Master kills the Doctor, I think fandom might implode with joy. *crosses fingers and toes*)
There were probably other things, but it's late. This'll have to do for now.
Darcy and I are both big Red Dwarf fans, so it was with a lot of trepidation that we put this on... and to our great joy discovered that it still worked! Sure everyone is older and fatter, and the special effects were a fair bit shinier, but otherwise it was the show we love. :) (Ironing sneezes! Just the idea!) The meta of course was convoluted and twisted to a ridiculous degree, but I rather enjoyed it. To (briefly) look at the two main things:
a) The Blade Runner stuff was (IMHO) hilarious and brilliant. Loved it.
b) The whole concept of the characters becoming the authors of their own fate was fascinating. Of course it's been done before, but I still really liked it, and thought it was cleverly done.
I have more (and deeper) thoughts, but I'm nearly nodding off, so I'm going to finish now. Really, really hope that they get another season!

RL/holidays don't mix well with fannish pursuits.
