New layout! :)

And it is very shiny indeed! I asked [livejournal.com profile] kathyh to make me a 'Being Human' banner, and now I just want to sit and stare at it instead of getting anything done...

(Saying goodbye to my AtF header reminded me that I really ought to write something about AtF, since I *adored* the ending. I need more hours in the day - or maybe a nanny and a cleaner. And speaking of comics then I think I've finally had enough of season 8. I'm not even annoyed anymore, just bored. Episode I bored.)

Also - Watchmen (movie) links:

Review by [livejournal.com profile] selenak and Thoughts on why Laurie is important.

Review by Roger Ebert, which goes into a lot of the stuff I've been pondering. Very deep but excellent.

ETA: LJ has done its icon-swap thing for this post. It *ought* to be Kaylee, but really... isn't.

Ooh, very, very nice! So pretty. *sigh*

My copy of AtF arrived yesterday, but I haven't had time to read it yet. S8 hasn't really done it for me for a while. I'm still buying and reading at the moment, but I don't think I will be for much longer.

Great new layout. Love the banner, wonderful work!

I gave up on Season Eight quite a while ago, and haven't regretted it at all!

Haven't seen the Watchmen movie yet. Read the book many years ago and loved it. Have yet to see an Alan Moore adaptation that worked, though.

You have caught the bug, ms elisi. Sorry to but in, but I agree the only good comic based movies are 300, and Batman Begins. Know I just want to warn you Alan Moore's more recent Lost Girls...well. It's pretty art, but lots and lots of sex in every way possible. It's the work I can't read. It's based on Alice in Wonderland, Dorthory of Oz, and Wendy of Peter Pan, in very naughty ways. It even has Dorthory "being" with the tin man, and includes incest.

Oops tin man and lion.

The ending of AtF, sigh. I'll keep it vague to not spoil anyone, but the end of issue #16. *bursts into flail-y tears* It was so damn perfect, which made #18 so much worse.

I know not of this 'Being Human' series. But it's pretty.

I am one of the five comic book fans who didn't like Watchmen when I read it (seriously, I couldn't finish it), so I can't justify spending the $10 to see it in theaters. There are too many other films I am dying to see this summer. (OMG HBP! And the new Transformers!!!!1!! And an Wolverine!!! *insert squeals of geeker joy*) I am alarmingly shallow in my movie choices. I want the shiny, not the serious.

Also, I see Kaylee.

Haven't read 18 yet, and am debating whether I want to at all.
I almost wanted to cry for all the wrong reasons when it was over. It made Buffy, Season 8 look like good solid characterization. That aught to give you an idea. Plus the artist made some...unique...clothing choices for Angel. *rolls eyes* I know he's a clothes horse, but seriously.

about a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost who share a house.
O.O Oooh! This might have to be on my list of things to dig for.

I admit to being very, very tempted by HBP. The trailer made me squee!
I know. "She only likes you because she thinks you're the Chosen One." "But I am the Chosen One." *thwap* "Kidding, kidding." Give in to temptation. Doo eeet. Although, I will say the books, so much better than the movies. They leave so much out, by necessity.

"Although, I will say the books, so much better than the movies. They leave so much out, by necessity."

I totally, completely, 100% agree with you ... for the first five. See, the movies keep getting better for the things I want from them, though they're still a long, long way from perfect. And then, see, there's this little thing where, um, Ididn'tlikebooks6and7allthatmuch. So even though I obviously haven't seen the last two movies, I have high hopes. And I did enjoy that scene from the trailer. :-)

That is a lovely danner - Mitchell was lovely ... although my heart still belongs to a bleached vampire, I wouldn't say "no"!!

OK, you Brits got me officially salivating about Being Human. :) I'll try to hunt it down on the Internets, like I did with Wallace and Gromitt Christmas Special.
After envying you guys for seeing it I was able to find it at some friendly site in glorious HD, and we watched it with our entire family. :)
As for Buffy-8 - I'm so there. I'll drop in for Giles&Faith and give Jana a chance, but that's about it. Not much time left, really, to turn this thing around.

You mean Watchmen?
No, Wallace & Gromitt Christmas special. :) All you Brits were raving about it, and I was able to find it eventually. We all loved it.

I'm not even annoyed anymore, just bored. Episode I bored.

The Buffy comics are the new measure for boredom. From now on it'll be "I'm bored. Season 8 bored."

Heh.

Myself, I'm sort of at this admittedly condescending, bemused stage where I wonder how people still take them seriously. After the horrible writing, the obviousness that Allie never actually watched the show and Joss saying he didn't feel obligated to respect them, I just don't get it.

[identity profile] mikeygs.livejournal.com 2009-03-11 11:04 am (UTC)(link)
Oh I've not taken them seriously since... oh the bankrobbing reveal.

Oh, I haven't taken them seriously...ever really. :P BTVS was a group effort from all involved. I've never believed it was all Joss all the time. David Fury agrees. *is validated*
