One of my favourite Jack/Ianto icons that I had kathyh make for me especially! (Snaggable, of course!) It is, as I am sure you all know, from The Stopwatch Scene, which STILL fills me with joy and glee - who knew that a show like Torchwood, so often heavy-handed and clumsy (esp in S1) could contain such lovely subtlety? Aaaanyway, the text comes from The Captain’s Blog, and accomplished the impossible feat of making the whole thing even better:

Other Staff issues: Ianto and I stayed back to go over the case files and reorganise the safe. Internal security cameras were temporarily shut down to run diagnostic tests, so there was no monitoring of the Hub for approximately four hours - but there were no security breaches to report. Everything went very smoothly.

Upcoming issues: Need to requisition a new stopwatch. Old one damaged while moving a desk.

It NEEDED to be turned into an icon. (Captain’s Blog is made of awesome, and *not* - as one might think - written by a flailing fangirl, but by James Moran, the guy who, amongst other things, wrote ‘Sleeper’... )



My Twilight icon (made by nutshell @ journalfen). Saw it and immediately had to snag it, since it so *perfectly* encapsulates everything I want to say about the books: An adamant ‘do not want’, coupled with a ‘Buffy would PWN the Cullens’. Also it is hilarious, given Giles & Buffy’s expressions.



Oh Puppet!Spike (from ‘Spike: Shadow Puppets’. Icon made by gillo). The Brian Lynch/Franco Urru Spike comics make me squee like few other fannish things, and Spike-as-a-puppet especially is too adorable and cool for words!



The Master! (by renestarko) This icon was another case of ‘seeing is *needing*’. The Master is my all-time favourite villain on any show EVER and he was (partly) responsible for toppling me into head-over-heels obsession with Doctor Who. (Doctor/Master hits almost *all* my shippy buttons.) (And no, not in THAT way.) Anyway, I love this icon for the smile, the text, and the gorgeousness of the icon itself.



My first ship (the one to rule them all...) The words are of course a reference to Oppenheimer’s “I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds” after ‘Trinity’ - a test of an implosion-design plutonium bomb. It was made by frimfram after a kerfuffle some years ago, when some anti-Spuffy person claimed that the pairing had RUINED TV FOREVER! Us Spuffies are very proud of that.



And finally my baby toes icon. It was made for me by fer1213 when The Cherub was born, and I have cherished it ever since. :)


Finally, in case someone missed it, I posted chapter 8 of My Immortal the other day. (The next chapter might take a little longer, what with Christmas and such.)

ETA: Review of Twilight (the movie), in the Guardian. Not positive. A snippet: If only Meyer had taken Buffy as her template. If only she had used that groundbreaking series as her foundation and built on it. If only there was a Whedonesque intelligence and modern, feminist sensibility informing Twilight and its successors. If only.

Really? *ponders* [pun unintended] Dunno why that would be, except maybe we are more comfortable with gritty stuff and the whole High School thing never resonated the same way? Also, in the UK the season never started until January, and then we got an episode a week without any gaps. That probably helped.

I will say that this is my favorite of my icons because I swear the only time they can make Angel look like DB in the comics is when he's acting like a complete dork.

Are those The Cherub's toes? One of the reasons I love summer is because all the tiny munchkins who come into the store are bare-foot. It takes all my self-control not to ignore Mom and simply tickle their toes instead.

As for the ETA: I prefer to go the more childish Buffy comparison route and tell Twilight fans, "My vampires would kick your vampire's ass then serve him his entrails for supper." Of course I'm probably thinking more of the Old School Fanged Four when saying that, but dammit isn't that an amusing idea...
