Happy Birthday to me! ;)
Hello there LJ world! First of all many thanks for all the greetings (esp. to ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
kathyh and the_royal_anna for the snail mail cards! *smooches*) - I'm not sure I can remember what my birthday was like before lots of little messages from around the world.
I share my birthday with my younger s-i-l, and since this year is her 21st (she might be younger but I'm skinnier! Heh. Not that she is overweight at all btw, but I am rather Fred-like) she had a lovely party on Saturday. Well, it was sort of a joint party w. lots of friends & family & neighbours and (best of all!) all I had to do was turn up and enjoy myself. Have I mentioned how much I love my in-laws? I think I have, but it bears saying again. They're brilliant and fun and loving and kind and inclusive and lots of other good things. :)
Anyway, for the party I got wear some of my presents early - a gorgeous long knitted white jumper/dress type thing w. lovely black boots (both from Topshop btw). Sunday I got to wear it again as Darcy took me out - m-i-l baby sat whilst we went to see Dylan Moran!!!! Squee! He's a *wonderful* stand up comedian and we enjoyed it very much indeed. *has best husband ever*
(Btw I think Dylan Moran would make a brilliant Doctor once DT decides to step down. And the thought of Dylan Moran!Doctor/River makes me exceedingly gleeful!)
Oh - and Sunday I also got to wear my other big present: This coat which I got from my m-i-l (we spent most of a day walking around shops in Leeds trying to find something I liked, and I fell for that one immediately)! Yay for pretty clothes. :) (Credit crunch? What credit crunch? We never had any money to begin with...)
What else... oh this morning I got books - 3 Peter Wimsey novels from my mother (I have a full set now! Hurrah!) and Barack Obama's Dreams From My Father from Darcy (I also wanted John Barrowman's book, but funnily enough I didn't get it... *g*). Have only read the introductions so far (am busy), but I am very impressed already. His intellect really shines through.
Also got a hilarious card that lights up and plays 'My mum is the greatest mum...' that continues to make me giggle and then get choked up. *squishes gorgeous children*
Very sadly Darcy is working late tonight, but my in-laws are taking me + children out to eat, so I can't complain. Best. Family. Ever.
Must run away for a little while, but plan to spam you with fic today. I hope you won't mind... *hugs everyone lots*
