I almost forgot!!!! Also - fic.
First of all a Happy Belated Birthday to
twilight__. Are you still around, and if so - how are you doing? It's been forever!
Secondly, today is a VERY SPECIAL DAY because it is
the_royal_anna's birthday, and it totally snuck up on me, leaving me all a-flutter since I don't have anything prepared! So... I went looking through folders and found this tiny neglected thing that I never finished. I have 5 parts, but the last ones are woefully basic & need tons of work. But the beginning is OK (and v. short), so it might just work as birthday fic? I promise I'll finish it within the next year! ;)
Dear Anna, I hope you're having a wonderful day and are being spoiled rotten! *lots of hugs*
Title: One in a Million.

Rose in Scoobie World
One of the great advantages of working in Canary Wharf was the Electric Light Railway. As public transport went you couldn't get any better in London - and Rose was definitely a public transport girl still. Sure her father (who-wasn't-really-her-father) had offered her a chauffeur driven car, but Rose had declined. As if she didn't stand out enough already...
Working for Torchwood was... varying. On the one hand it kept her in touch with her old life in the only way still possible, and yet it was a such a faint shadow of what she'd once had, that some days it almost hurt too much. She found herself having a sudden and irrepressible passion for films about old experts/crooks 'doing one last job' - especially if they left behind a secure and comfortable life.
Today had been especially hard, as she'd helped index a great number of artifacts that she had first hand experience of. Standing on the ELC platform, enjoying the early spring sun, she let two trains leave without her, not feeling up to facing her mother and the ongoing saga of the decorating of the baby's room. She hoped that once the little fella arrived it would help her focus on something else - having a sibling was something she'd always wanted.
Trying to avoid thinking about the day's events she absentmindedly focussed on the conversation behind her, barely audible since the small group spoke in a hushed whisper that automatically made her prick up her ears.
"Sweetie - this is the wrong place!"
"No but... look! My calculations were all correct! This has to be it!"
"Willow... Kennedy is right." A man's voice this time. "I mean - there a Zeppelins in the sky! And I'd like to get out of here before they set on fire!"
"Xander! It's perfectly possible that-"
"That you got it wrong and we're on some sort of parallel Earth instead of the Land of Illusions."
Rose suddenly felt faint. Pretending to check her watch she half turned and took in the three figures. A young dark haired man wearing an eyepatch, and two young women, one redhed, one brunette, all bent over a folder.
"But... maybe the Zeppelins are part of the illusion?" the redhead looked hopeful.
"Willow!" The brunette looked rather fed up. "Giles said that the illusion would be based on what's in our heads. None of us have pictured London with zeppelins in the sky!"
"Fine," the girl called Willow sighed. "But I was sure I did the calculations right. This should be the right dimension!"
The man frowned. "Didn't you once say that sending someone to the right dimension was like throwing a live bee at a puppy?"
"But I did so many calculations..." Willow muttered again, and then bowed her head in defeat. "OK, lets go back home and I'll start all over."
"Wait!" Rose called out, and in a moment was in front of them. "I'm sorry, but I overheard what you were talking about. Do you... do you have a way of travelling between parallel universes?"
They all stared at her, obviously wishing that they'd kept their mouths shut.
"You see - I came from another earth and got stuck here. Could you help me get back?"
There was a long moment's silence as the three looked at each other.
"Um... maybe?" Xander said.
Heart beating wildly, Rose smiled.
TBC...

Thank you. And you're quick! I only posted this about a minute ago I think...
I've saved it to my memories if you continue posting.
I *will* finish it, don't worry (esp since I think I know how to end it now), so I might try to have another go at some point.
*waves back*
(I don't have a Rose icon! And this is the nearest I have to a Scoobie icon... What I wouldn't give to have more icon spaces. ::sigh::)

This sounds like a lot of fun...

Thank you - very insistent plotbunny that refused to bring me an ending. Hence the fact that I never posted any of it until now. (It's about a year & a half since I wrote it...) Anyway, thank you lots for reading, and hopefully it'll work itself out.

More please Miss?

That would make for a very short fic indee, so no - luck is not immediately forthcoming.
And I don't think I've ever actually read a Wilow+Kennedy+Xander team-up ever before...
Really? How odd. I'm quite surprised at myself actually, since there will be no Buffy (or vampires) in this fic at all. I've never written Scoobie-centric fic before. (Except that one time with Xander and the toilet paper... *g*)
More please Miss?
It's Mrs. But since you ask so nicely... I'll try to finish it in less than a year!

Really? How odd.
Willow and Kennedy fics are exceptionally rare as it is, and for them to have Xander along with them too - but not Buffy or the other Scoobies - makes it pretty much unique.

I was being facetious. Darn LJ and it's inability to convey tone of voice! ;)
makes it pretty much unique.
I never thought of that. But I like that - will see if I can get more of them worked in.

Thank you so much for your lovely wishes and all your kindness, and the flock of birds! The sun did indeed shine and I had a beautiful day.

Yay! You liked it. :) I'll do my best to tinker away at the rest to make it posting worthy - hopefully you'll like where it goes.
Thank you so much for your lovely wishes and all your kindness, and the flock of birds!
I thought the birds were v. sweet, even if the music was somewhat grating. Glad you enjoyed them though - I was mostly hitting myself over the head because of having brain like a sieve.
The sun did indeed shine and I had a beautiful day.
Wonderful! We had brilliant weather too, but we're all full of cold which lessened the enjoyment somewhat... Anyway, sun is far, far better than rain! :)

This is interesting, I don't watch Doctor Who, but I'm fimiliar with the idea. Can't wait to read more :)

My pleasure. :) I can't say I love her, but I do think she was very good for Willow. (And I'd never DREAM of character bashing. Except in crack!fic, but that doesn't count. *g*)

Well it'll be mostly BtVS centric, I think, so hopefully shouldn't be too hard to follow.
Can't wait to read more :)
More will come. Just... give it a little while.
