Does anyone remember?

First of all I hope that everyone in the path of Ike is doing OK. It's bizarre to watch the pictures in the news, since today was a beautiful, sunny and summery day...

In the most roundabout way possible, the hurricane reminded me of [livejournal.com profile] ladywenham - does anyone know how she is now? For those for whom the name doesn't ring a bell, she was a BNF when I joined LJ, and wrote the most gorgeous fic. And one of them was a post-NFA Spuffy fic, where the two of them rode out a storm in an old house (Spike having been in Galveston in 1900, and knowing what to do). Everything in the story was symbolic, and it was full of ghosts and memories, and it was *beautifully* written... does anyone remember it? I can't find it - it's not on her ff.net page or on nocturnal light, and her website's gone. Is she archived anywhere else? My google-fu is failing, and I'm kinda busy with getting children to bed.

I know it is an odd thing to focus on, under the circumstances, but I'm far away and there's really nothing I can do. *is worried*

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] ruuger found it: The Big Easy.

Might indulge later, after Last Night of the Proms. (Did you see Sue Perkins? I'm so happy she won!)

ETA2: Btw I noticed that deleted journals once more have a line through them. I approve.
ruuger: My hand with the nails painted red and black resting on the keyboard of my laptop (New beginnings)

Is this the fic you mean?

I was thinking aboutr that story too, and it is wonderful.

We can learn a lot from fanfic!

That's okay, I have nothing to say about Torchwood.

I still have a load of unfinished BtVS business. I recently went through all my scraps and things and there's tons of stuff I want to finish!

[identity profile] bogwitch.livejournal.com 2008-09-13 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't mind if they were just bunnies! These are all half-finished finishes that deserve finishing! I just can't think of how to end them.

Thanks, and you!

And I don't watch Supernatural...

Oh, but you should! Pretty boys fighting monsters - what's not to like? *g*

They weren't my type either at first. Plus one of them just might be the Anti-Christ!

I still have an e mail address for her if you'd like it. Just send me a message through the LJ message thingy.

And yes, I thought of that story as well.

I forgot about that one-- but now that you mention it that was a gorgeous story. Since you've found it again I may have to re-read!

Amy's fic is still up over at ff.net, and at Vampire's Kiss.

Here's a direct link to The Big Easy, which I believe is the fic you're referring to.

Ello! Did you see that they've released a Buffy score soundtrack! Very exciting.

[identity profile] ibmiller.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
No problem - I actually just bought it from Amazon (downloaded), and it's gorgeous (even though I already had about half the tracks, the quality is better, and the mixing doesn't have transitional passages from track to track which annoy me). Plus, I got a bonus track from both Amazon and Rhapsody (and there are tracks on iTunes too, but I'm not quite able to get those yet).

I'm okay - busy working, trying to apply to grad school, spraining my knee, watching Olympics, etc. The Buffy score has been a help to keep me in the fandom, I think (even though I just found out about it) - I've been extremely disappointed in the comics (though I like Angel a bit better) (and I still consider season 8 canon ;-), so having something I loved about the series come up again made me happy, and want to go rewatch my nice DVDs of season 5 and 7.

And I'm so glad to find people who aren't obsessed with Twilight. Blech.

I read the Twilight mockage - that's what prompted my comment. Were very funny. Now if it just weren't so popular...

(Didn't think you would, but I still do...even if I think crack!Buffy isn't nearly as fun or funny as, um, non-crack!Buffy.)
