But come on. Don't you see it now? It's the perfect explanation. It fits right in with Joss' stated intent "screw the rules, I just want something that resonates emotionally" - all of Giant!Dawn's issues match. And besides, think of the possibilities for pregnancy jokes! Buffy robbing banks to be able to afford diapers with 2-ton limits! Entire squads of Slayers preparing weird food for Dawn's cravings! "Juno" references since that movie came out in 2004 in the Jossverse!

(I happened to watch a documentary on the new Star Wars movies a couple of days ago. In that, George Lucas said that it was important to make Jar Jar Binks likable and funny, since so much of the movie depended on him and the entire story would fall flat if people didn't like him. ...I don't know why I brought that up.)

Torchwood did an 'alien pregnancy' episode recently, and it was *brilliant*. Have had my fill.

I'm actually up-to-date on Torchwood now! :-) And I'm not sure I'd agree that that episode was brilliant, but... at least it had Species thefts references and the "do Ianto" comment. (And s2 really IS a lot better than s1.)
