Nekkid!Spike question

I bet that headline will get me some attention! ;)

But to get to the point: I was watching the cryptscene from 'As You Were' a few weeks ago (I was trying to gather arguments to convince someone that Spike wasn't The Doctor) and studying Spike closely (as you do...) I noticed something I'd never seen before. He had a scar on his chest from where Glory cut him. Now my question is... does he always have this scar? I'd really love to sit down with my S6 and S7 dvds and watch all the shirtless!Spike scenes or trawl through screencap sites, but sadly I don't have the time. So, if anyone has the time or has noticed the scar on other occasions would you mind telling me? I'm all curious now... because if it's only there in AYW, is it then a deliberate reference back to what he did in 'Intervention'?

Will stop now, before I disappear completely into the land of odd theories!

heh, i am ashamed to say that i haven't pay enough attention to shirtless Spike.

Maybe that's a scar JM has and the guys at the show conveniently always gave him injuries around it, like in Lessons, or with the carvings made by the bringers in S7.

Well, I hadn't either until then - it was mostly because I'd been overdosing on Luminosity's 'Rebel Yell' vid, where you have a continually repeated shot of Glory cutting Spike, so it was 'on my mind'...

That's an interesting idea, but remember that Buffy/Spike are often rather rough during sex. Most of the times post-coitus we see Spike scratched up; the crypt sex in AYW seemed pretty gentle, but I would guess that any scratches were because of Buffy. Other than the eyebrow scar, I don't think that Spike (and vampires in general) keep their scars.

That's a possiblity that I hadn't thought of... it was mostly because it was in exactly the same place (see the screencaps I linked to). But I didn't think that vampires kept scars either. (In the Spike Thesis - I think - the Chinese Slayer's Watcher mentions that her sword has been blessed by a priest, which is a lovely explanation for the scar!)

Throws in my 2 cents worth. I'm betting it's a real JM scar because I've noticed other ones here and there. In fact with his short short hair I've noticed one in his hair. He's on record as not being the world's biggest angel in his younger days so I'm betting that ME just took advantage of it being in a convenient place.
Of course, I may have to "research" this some more "cough".

I agree, similar to the Cordelia falling on a rebar instance. Actually, it's funny you should bring this up because a few weeks ago when seeing this crypt scene what caught my attention were the scars on his back (where he's talking to Riley). I simply assumed the same things, that they're JM's scars that they didn't bother to cover up.
