I *so* shouldn't be here, but...
DB on Graham Norton! "He's no angel, and I'd like to jump his bones..." Youtube is a wonderful thing - enjoy! :) At least watch the first few minutes - remember the beginning of 'She'? ::dies::
And then there's the preview of issue 10 of s8! And... I really rather liked it!
First of all I feel like pointing out that when I first read it (at the crack of dawn) I was still half-asleep and didn't twig that it wasn't Jeanty doing the artwork. I was just amazed at the fact that not only did Daniel Craig look perfectly like himself, but Buffy even looked utterly Buffy-like, and in more than one panel! (Willow looks odd though, and Xander has acquired cheekbones, but what the hey... Dawn even looks like Dawn. I ::heart:: this artist.)
Anyway, the first few pages amused me greatly - because I suddenly realised that Daniel Craig looks a *lot* like Riley! Thing is, I don't fancy Riley at all, but Daniel Craig really is rather hot... he's like a scruffy, sexy, dangerous Riley. So - the fantasy makes *perfect* sense: Daniel Craig = Riley = acceptable, nice boyfriend. As in, the part of herself that Buffy is willing to show others. Willow of course calls her on it, saying that the whole thing is a little generic, but I can guarantee that there's no way Buffy would ever admit that what she *really* wants is a kinky threesome with Spike and Angel! *g*
Seriously, this is the most fun, entertaining and in-character the comic has been so far! (Still not sure about the whole flying thing, but at least it's made a beautiful cover.)
Finally, before I run away - what sort of person calls their child 'Flossie'? I mean, how can you do that? (There is a childrens' story time thing at the library, and one little girl was called Flossie. My mind, it boggles.) ETA: Apparently it could be short for 'Florence', which would make sense. I hope that's it!
ETA2: Dear Kathy, thank you so much for the pretty card! *hugs*

In my interpretation of Buffy, she *would* be perfectly willing to admit that to Willow (but only Willow, and only after swearing her to strict secrecy). However, first she'd have to be willing to admit it to *herself*. :-)
Also, as BGF and I noted over on the newly_legion thread on this: she may be fantasising about Daniel Craig, but the book she was reading before he arrived was about a dangerous, sexy, charismatic male vampire... (Lestat).
what sort of person calls their child 'Flossie'?
Isn't it short for 'Florence'?

There is that... although, you see this is the sort of thing I think she might be far more willing to confide to Faith. (In a 'verse where the two of them hadn't mysteriously fallen out!)
the book she was reading before he arrived was about a dangerous, sexy, charismatic male vampire... (Lestat).
Totally missed that - thank you!
Isn't it short for 'Florence'?
This has been pointed out to me by Petzi too... (I just had images of a small pink cat, from the programme 'Tom and Vicky'. Too much children's tv, that's the problem)

I loved the books at the time, but I reread part of one as a teenager, and they're terrible!
Have I mentioned how pretty your banner is? I guess I have now.

However, first she'd have to be willing to admit it to *herself*.
Oh, I don't know about that. There is the line in Chosen about the oil. I don't think she really has a big problem admitting it to herself as much as she (pretty understandably) fears the reaction of others.

Willow, on the other hand, is the person whose first reaction, when she hears that Buffy just slept with someone new, is to ask "And? Details?" (At leat blurry watercolour details, if not diagram details)...
By the way, did you see that I just wrote a Spangel fic? (Well, one of the comments said it had Spangelic bits...)

But in that case, if she's willing to tell Spike himself openly that she fantasises about him and Angel wrestling nude, I can't see her being that reluctant to discuss that with her BFF either...

Or alternately, she's currently dangling 1000 metres up in the air and prefers to think about safe, boring relationships with muscular macho men rather than dangerous, exciting ones with sexually ambiguous vampires...

Well.... (Wrote that 2 years ago!)
Willow, on the other hand, is the person whose first reaction, when she hears that Buffy just slept with someone new, is to ask "And? Details?"
That was a long time ago... I'm not saying she wouldn't confide, but considering Willow's reaction to the idea of group sex (not to mention all the kinky stuff she and Spike got up to)... ;)
By the way, did you see that I just wrote a Spangel fic?
I didn't (I'm hopelessly behind on everything!) and it'll have to wait because I'm rushing out the door! Bother.

Because I don't know who Daniel Craig is, I thought it was Riley until Willow's "That's it?" where I discovered that this guy wasn't Riley and I reread it again. And it made more sense and made me laugh.
I think this guy did a better Xander and Dawn than Jeanty, but Jeanty's Willow is better.

Unless she fears her reaction. Sure, Willow was more open to her "normal" relations in the earlier seasons. Not so much about Spike in the later ones. And it's pretty much about what Willow and Tara talked about in Seeing Red. She'd try to understand, but it's that first reaction of possible shock/disgust/judgment that matters as it would cut the most.

My pleasure :)
And... I really rather liked it!
So did I. Mind you I didn't hate the Faith arc, just the artwork. The cover of this one is just to die for and I'm keen to know what the deal with Dawn actually is. I think I'm almost looking forward to this one!
what sort of person calls their child 'Flossie'?
My mother used to call me Flossie as a joke. Fortunately, she stopped! As Petzi correctly says it's a dimunitive of Florence, which brings The Magic Roundabout to mind for me. Apparently some of these Victorian names are coming back including Mabel (my grandmother's name), which I would never have believed but my s-in-l met someone with a child called Mabel the other day.

That would explain why it didn't make my eyes bleed, then.

::snerk:: I recognise the style now - it's the same guy who did some of the pre-show ones, and although his style is very sparse, he really can do a proper likeness!

Do you think its a sign of the apocalypse? *g* And what with Xander being the only male, I guess they have to do *something* to keep the female readers interested - they can't bring on (almost)nekkid!Daniel Craig in every issue. ;)

If you're really, really lucky, you'll get yours before Christmas...
So did I. Mind you I didn't hate the Faith arc, just the artwork.
I didn't hate the Faith arc (it was a *lot* better than TLWH), but I had... issues.

Same here. Strange, huh?

Well Darcy was very keen on giving The Cherub 'Capability' as a middle name, but I vetoed it. :)

Not as far as I know. I've never met one before.
Don't know the cartoon though!
It's not a cartoon! :) (You can see the very pink Flossie in the first picture, although the show is *owned* by the frogs, Fred and Bert, that are just hilarious!)

Oh he's the new James Bond, and emerges from the sea in the outfit you saw Buffy admiring. It made Bond fangirls VERY happy. :)
but Jeanty's Willow is better.
Agreed. Why can he draw Willow? Tis a mystery.

It makes me all warm and fuzzy... Mmmm. Made by
Oh and sorry I'm so hopeless at commenting on your posts! I *do* try to read most of them, honest!

Ah but Spike knows just how dirty a mind she has - and also he is unshockable. And I'm sure Buffy has figured out that there was probably a lot of 'sharing' going on with the Fanged Four. Willow is another matter though - yes they're BFFs, but that does not necessarily equate sharing such *very* intimate secrets. Look how uncomfortable everyone was with Anya over sharing...

Huh? I can't believe you guys weren't all over the whole blond, blue-eyed, cheek-boned, most sociopathic Bond (even including Connery) thing. And I thought the Lestat holiday reading was for the funny. Didn't anyone else think Tom Cruise looked like Jennifer Saunders's separated-at-birth twin sister in the movie?

Riley might have different colouring, but physically (and facially) they really are very alike. (
And I thought the Lestat holiday reading was for the funny.
Oh it's very funny! :)

That's a *brilliant* description! I could see what he was trying (and spectacularly failing) to do. Someone like Richard E. Grant would have just nailed it!

I think it's probably an amalgam of Spike, Riley and possibly a little Angel as he has all the things she might have liked them.
