Happy things.

First of all this review of episode 1 ('Kiss Kiss, Bang, Bang') of S2 of 'Torchwood'. Very light on spoilers, although I skimmed past direct quotes. It almost looks too good to be true! A snippet:

Here’s the important thing for you cynics to note: “Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang” (a very aptly-titled episode) gives every indication that the production team have identified all of the failings that turned many SF fans against the show, and have fixed them.

(Also, the stopwatch is back! *does the happy dance*)

Second, this whole SUP thing is beginning to look (dare I say it?) like not-a-bad-thing. Via [livejournal.com profile] sdwolfpup, a link to someone who went to the LJ party last night! (Did you know that the Support/Abuse team consists of *four* people?) Apparently our new overlords have a good idea what they want to do with LJ. *crosses fingers* Also go to [livejournal.com profile] lj_policy and [livejournal.com profile] lj_2008 to have your say and find out what they're about. The fact that their first action is to ask us what we want/need, rather than tell us how brilliant they are, is something else I like. (I mean, it couldn't be *worse*... Oh and I'm utterly indifferent to the whole 'adult content' thing. Will continue to do my best to ignore it, unless forced to do otherwise.)

But I must run - food won't cook itself, sadly.

I read that review too! It sounds so good!

I´ll have to watch that episode anyway, because of the be-in-my-bunkyness of Captain John and Captain Jack, but it would be great, if Torchwood really get´s a better grip on plot holes and lack of character motivation in the second season.

I am at 'wait and See' about being sold to the Russian Mafia for a mess of pottage - but one lady on my FL is closing her journal as she is worried that her details will be more likely to be hacked if held by a Russian company - which hadn't really occured to me immediately.

Da. Find out the real identities of anyone posting criticism of Vladimir Putin and poison them with polonium-210.

You know, my faith in the spirit of LJ will be *completely* restored if, in their next News post, they announce that we can now send each other polonium as a V-gift...

And possibly also poisoned umbrellas.

But I haven't even sent you the umbrella yet!

Cap'n Jack and SpikeJames Marsters? I'd be there anyway, but good to know it worth watching! And hopefully someone will upload it at the time....

Some on my flist is considering not renewing her paid journal due to not wanting to give out her financial details to nebulous russian interests. Mine isn't due for I think 9 months, so I'll see how it goes...

squeee, iconlove!

Torchwood's problem was its potential

Exactly, there were even some truly brilliant moments in the first seasons, but they made the debts this show went to, even harder to bear.

The review sounds really promising, though. Anyway, until the second season airs, I still have the Sarah Jane Adventures and they work fine for me.

desperately wanting to tell the writers that there was something called subtlety.

I totally agree.

And I'm not watching Sarah Jane at all, I'm afraid. The girls watch it (when we remember), but...

I enjoy children`s books/films/tv occasionally and Sarah Jane got really pretty good towards the end. The last episode left me in awe. (+ I think Maria´s Dad would make a nice companion for Captain jack...i should stop slashing characters from children´s tv *bangs herself on the head*)
