Watched 'Dalek' (1.06) tonight on BBC3 (which was incidentally the ep that really 'won me over'). It really is a lovely episode, and I was enjoying it muchly - and then this exchange happened (shortly after 'The Last Dalek' killed itself):

ROSE
Is that the end of it? The Time War?

DOCTOR
I'm the only one left. I win. How about that.


Just... damn! I *have* to run (this is the first moment I've had to myself, and I really shouldn't be here) - but! I am near speechless. And I have newfound admiration for RTD! There might have been actual shivers and jaw-droppage...

I have newfound admiration for RTD! Just wow.
He certainly wins in the continuity stakes. I wonder if he plots his arcs more tightly than Joss did and leaves his writers less room to make gaffs?

I think it's partly that he is a continuity whore and partly that the seasons are shorter.

Now I'm feeling dumb because I'm not seeing the significance. I mean, at the time he thought that he was the only Time Lord left, and that the last Dalek was dead, and it later turned out he was slightly wrong on both counts ... but why are you all shivery?

The Master's last words (after The Doctor *begs* him to regenerate and The Master refuses) are:

Same words. Exactly. But completely turned on their head.

Yes - I have been watching this series ... and overall enjoying it - although still don't like the Dr/Rose relationship - Too much, too soon!

But last night was great - even if Daleks shouldn't fly!!

It's B/A all over! I mean it's sweet, and The Doctor thankfully has more selfcontrol than Angel, so... anyway, I will (at some point) post some thoughts comparing Lucy and Rose. V. interesting parallels and differences.

This show keeps surprising me - I've thought of it as fun entertainment, and then suddenly it turned *awesome*. (If you want more of this stuff I wrote a 7000 word essay. When I obsess I do it all the way...)
