Lots o' stuff.

A RL friend was going to come visit today and stay overnight, but thanks to rain -> floods -> cancelled trains she can't make it. *pouts* But she might come in a month's time...

So - first of all a Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] timeofchange and [livejournal.com profile] liliaeth! May you both have brilliant days!

And then - comes the pimpin'!

[livejournal.com profile] the_royal_anna made a Spuffy vid that had me drowning in my gorgeous ship! (Subtitled: "No you don't. Hello?" or "Clearly, it was only Teh Sex")

Via Petzi, an interview with the artist doing the artwork for issue 5 of s8: Paul Lee! I'd pretty much given up on the comics, but with a different artist? Oh I think I might have a look... also he says this. (W. lots of comments from me! *g*)

Well, in my issue, Giles and Andrew are the main cast members I dealt with.
::much cheering:: I love Giles. And although I adore Andrew, I really, really want to know what the heck the Scoobies are doing making him *a leader*! I mean that is just... *mind boggles* I hope there's a very good explanation!

There are also appearances from some of the "Slayerettes" from season 7. I actually try really hard to get accurate likenesses. That's one of my strengths, and why I got the gig.
::even more cheering::

THE PULSE: How tough is it to draw characters who were immortalized on television, but have to make them slightly different for the comic book universe? Do you ever find yourself slipping and maybe making Buffy look too much like Sarah Michelle Gellar? Was there even something in place that said you couldn't make them look like their TV counterpoints?
LEE: Well, likenesses are always a challenge. And, translating anything to a different medium always requires some adapting. I don't think there is a prohibition against making Buffy look like SMG, though.

*snickers* Jeanty you are so pwn'd!

Finally before I run off again (why does life never stop being busy?) a fic rec:

Five things Angel does his fourth day as CEO of Wolfram & Hart.

Oh and oh and oh. This is just *perfection*! So short, and yet so perfectly reminds me of all the different reasons I love Angel (profound, heartbreaking, avoidy, funny). If you have only one minute for reading today, please choose this! And it very, very nearly made me cry. Shut up.

One of the reasons why I've been waiting for issue 5 has actually been that I was hoping for a change in artists, so this is very good news indeed. Does the interview have any samples of Paul Lee's work? (I'm killing time at work and my work laptop has images disabled) I'm not expecting photographic likenesses, but as long as the characters - both old and new - have enough personality that I can at least tell them apart, I'm happy.

Which reminds me, I've had the first issue of Shadow Puppets since Sunday andI haven't read it yet. o_O

Re- Andrew. The Scoobies has always been way too naive when it comes to trust. They trusted Spike right when he got a chip, they trusted Anya right when she lost her powers. They don't think, hey, Spike can team with someone evil and hurt us (like he did with Adam), they don't think Anya may choose to be a demon again (Like she did in Hell's Bells)... and now they're doing the same thing with Andrew. I just hope they don't get burned... on the other hand, I want them to, Scoobies in pain is so much fun. I say this with love.

I have never seen a *single* fic in which he had been put in a position of power, telling Slayers what to do.

Before S5 AtS, yeah. I think the Scoobies are desprate for any help they can get to keep the big number of slayers under control. Each character has a special talent. Andrew is very smart, I don't remember what was his speciality when he was with the Trio, but I remember that he's very good at something, and he proved to be quite useful in S7. Dare I say more useful in research and book stuff than Buffy or Xander.

Chen had to submit sketches of SMG to her to show she could draw the woman. While I'm sure she has more time to do the covers than the main artist does with each panel, at least try, you know? I don't know how it's set up or anything and maybe not having them look like the actors is the point. That doesn't change that the art is inconsistent by itself. Buffy from one panel doesn't look like Buffy in another panel.

I've warmed up to the storyline they might be going with a little, but the artwork is just jarringly bad.
