Feh.

OK, first of all? I'm staying. (See this comment.) Not that I was ever going to leave, even though running around friending people on GJ is fun. (But GJ is ugly. And has adverts. And everything just looks wrong.)

Aaaanyway, if you haven't already, please go join [livejournal.com profile] fandom_counts! (22000 members so far. Spread the news to the furthest corners of fandom, please!)

[livejournal.com profile] bookshop has a great post here about the fandom voice and what we can do.

[livejournal.com profile] liz_marcs still has lots of links.

Also lots and lots of info in this post by [livejournal.com profile] catrinella.

Re. Warriors for Innocence please read this post (warning: bad for blood pressure!)

Oh and there's a list of deleted comms and journals here.

Apparently Six Apart have in the past shown themselves to be 'socially backward'. Well I guess they really went and proved it this time. LJ however has usually been good at PR and such. Woe.

*takes deep breath*

OK, now I'm going to go concentrate on my children and such RL concerns, and when I have spare time will polish off some schmoopy Spuffy and a few Spike: Asylum ficlets.

GJ isn't ugly - you can make it look exactly like LJ and, in fact, some things are much easier there. It took me ten seconds to add my GJ banner - just paste in the url of the image - as opposed to about fifteen minutes fiddling around with styles and sizes and placements on LJ.

And it doesn't have adds in the journal pages or the user info any more. The few adds on the public pages are just text and they're not exactly obtrusive.

I have made it blue. Or at least the pale duck-egg blue that was the colour of the underside of Spitfires in the Battle of Britain.

It suddenly occurred to me that it might be Firefox stopping me seeing adverts and so I dredged up IE7 from the unused programs (rather like stepping back in time 5 years, even though it's only months old!) and went back to GJ. Yes, it must have been Firefox, as there are adverts. But I only saw 2 small text-only ads for financial services and they were not obtrusive. No big Nokia one.
