Did you know I could paint?

Heh. Rather a pretentious subject line, I know, but I'm not claiming to be a *good* painter, even though I still hold out hope that one day I'll go to art college! Anyway, what with all this talk of the comics and the artwork etc, I remembered that I never shared these pictures (since I vaguely recall the recipients okay-ing me putting them in my LJ).

Long, long ago I did a watercolour for [livejournal.com profile] poshcat of trees next to a lake.

And then I painted a picture of this icon (from AHITW) for [livejournal.com profile] buttersideup which took me mumble mumble forever to finish.

Have to run, but I have to say that the new and improved image uploading with a direct link to my photobucket account is *great*! Sometimes LJ really does come up with good ideas!

(This post brought to you by way of my delight with these three photo posts by [livejournal.com profile] earth_vexer that highlighted what's missing from the comics and makes me want to pull out my (now very dusty) palette again!)

ETA: Apparently e_v's posts are flocked! Sorry, never noticed!

Psst... [livejournal.com profile] earth_vexer's post is flocked...

Wow. *Applauds*.

I was wondering why you gave the pictures that textured effect, then I realised they're actually painted on actual canvas. :)

Did you paint them from life - and if so, where?

You artist you!

I love the watercolour even though the tree isn't a willow one...;- )

Lovely. I'm particularly fond of the subtle yet powerfully evocative distant, featureless figures in an open woodland scene.

I totally think you could claim to be a good painter! Of course, I'm impressed by anyone who can paint anything. Still, I really do like the paintings, particularly the icon one.

Those are actually quite lovely.

Those are lovely. They're both gorgeous but I particularly love the trees by the lake. I'm very envious as I've always wanted to be able to paint with watercolours but have a serious lack of anything approaching talent!

It is awfully pretty. and the new photobucket feature in LJ is really useful! I need to post something. ;)

Your paintings are beautiful! I really admire people who are talented in the visual arts. I can barely draw a stick figure.

Wow, you're very talented. I really love the first one, especially the reflection on the water.

I really love that autumn-y watercolor! Nice job with the reflection; that always throws me!

Color me impressed! Lovely work. Watercolor is *hard*, at least for me!

Oh so pretty! I especially love the one you did for Posh!

I ♥ your artwork, I truly do. I hope that someday you do get to go to art college! *hugs*

I'm completely flattered that my photos made you want to dust off your palette and do some painting. That's the wonderful thing about art. Just looking at it can be inspiring. So I hope you do! :)

i've been thinking about trying my hand watercolors.

Very nice. :) Art was the one class I completely and utterly sucked at, lol No lie. In fact, one summer, I took an art and music class and promptly dropped out of the art class b/c it was making me absolutely miserable. That's the only class I've ever dropped (after putting in actual effort) in my life. So I really admire those with artistic ability. :)
