Flux was definitely the best Chibnall Who series, but I think it could have been better with more episodes and more development, that's what I meant by the pandemic ruining it.
Flux was by far the best that Chibnall did (even if the ending was anti-climactic). However I am trying to remember if we thought he'd do serialised Who from the start. He's good at serialised stuff (see Broadchurch), so the whole 'Season of standalones' was a let down.
Sorry, I should have been more specific. Flux was definitely the best of the Chibnall era and I think it would have been even better if the pandemic hadn't forced them to cut episodes so it was crammed too full.
I remember at the beginning of Thirteen's run I thought Chibnall might do a callback to the Third Doctor and have her stuck on Earth working at UNIT trying to track down the TARDIS. I think that would have worked well.

Oh god, remember when we hoped for that from Chibnall? DID we hope for that? I certainly did. And he did deliver, albeit in a very limited fashion.
Anyway, Old Skool serials. <3 I was going to say you haven't even gotten to the black and white stuff yet, but then I remembered you've watched The Dalek's Master Plan of all things.

Yeah. Poor Doctor - he's lovely, but all of his experience of losing companions to death or worse (hello, Peri), and he's still sweetly, arrogantly, making that promise.
It was good to see this, and be reminded that I still love Doctor Who - that I still love the Doctor. I'll keep my fingers crossed in hopes that the season does not suck.
Heh. The first thing I thought of when I read this was "This woman is a parent, one with experience in figuring out what to say about a school project by a beloved child, when the project is meh in the extreme." I mean, I thought that as a parent who did that from time to time as Andy grew up.
LOL. But not. Boom, 74 Yards, Dot and Bubble, Rogue and The Legend of Ruby Sunday is one of the most solid runs of episodes you could ever wish for.
It's a shame it was such a short season, because so much of the show exists in just the extras, the episodes that don't stand out but where the characters can just breathe and exist together. Ruby and Fifteen's friendship sort of blossomed while we weren't looking? Because we didn't have time to SEE it, we had to fill in the blanks. But just in terms of raw quality? The majority of the episodes were great.
I agree that he deserved a longer season. I was impressed with most of the same episodes you mention here, although there were writing shortcomings that drove me crazy, while the good to excellent acting saved them. I include "74" in that category, and "The Legend of Ruby Sunday." Still - damn, the UK acting bench is so very deep!
(And 13 deserved a better fate ... but I digress.)
Legit- when my middle-younger sister had bought me a year of Disney+ for my birthday over a couple of years ago- one of the few things I ended up watching on it was D's entire catalog of old cartoons from the 30s & 40s.

It's not what we'll get, but I live in hope.

It just fell down in the lack of follow-up afterwords.

"I promised I would keep you safe." You need to stop making that promise, Doctor, you have a very bad track record.
