I think the migration might not be swift, but it's inevitable. At least alternatives exist, which is good.

Yes that's definitely an important factor. I have a friend who has been defensive for years about using Facebook and claims to want to use other platforms. Yet when I've made suggestions I notice she never follows up. Whatever she says, she wants a big audience and that's harder to build on smaller sites.

Facebook is the biggest problem, because there really isn't an alternative...

it's damn hard to move from the Facebook, since there are so many community connections are Facebook only. I hate it, but I don't know how to fight it. not just friends from everywhere, all the local groups and events and clubs and stuff like this.

Yeah this. I am hardly ever there, but it's the one place I can connect with family abroad. :(

Thanks for posting these here! I'm not sure whether I'm going to switch to Pixelfed or stop using social media altogether, but either way the graphic is helpful!

And yeah, I'm not sure either - I'd like to try Signal, but my phone is old and regularly runs out of space.

Facebook is also a headache, because there are some people I only connect with on Facebook (family abroad mostly), and I'm not sure where else I could get in touch, except just email.

It's difficult.

It is. These horrible men who run these things are making so many people's lives more complicated. I don't judge people who still use them because they don't see another option, but the whole situation sucks.

One of the 'move' posts mentioned Friendica (https://friendi.ca/) as an alternative to Facebook, so I am looking into that.
