The Hollywood Reporter: ‘Good Omens’ Final Season Will Be Just One Episode
Neil Gaiman has stepped away from the Prime Video show, which will wrap with a feature-length episode.
Sort of seems like the worst of both worlds, but hey ho. Guess I'll watch, but since I don't like Amazon anyway, I might just pirate it...
Oh and I think NG basically wrote the whole season already. I wish they'd publish it and let all profits go to rape crisis centres.
ETA: Terry Pratchett dot com has an official post with info:
Amazon Prime confirms details of Good Omens’ final season.
ETA2: Tumblr post with a little more background. Seems like S3 was completely cancelled, but someone pulled a movie out of the ashes. And y'know - it's good news for the crew/production, who just saw a chunk of their livelihood vanish.
ETA3: A very level headed post trying to look at the positives.
ETA4: OK, I promise to stop adding to this post, but I had to share this because it made me laugh out loud:
BUT there are still two people involved in this project whom I trust to make this right for us:
Rob Wilkins, who says of himself that his job is to be Sir Terry's representative on earth, and Michael Sheen, the OG Good Omens Fan.
Look me in the eye and tell me you don't believe Michael Sheen would fight Amazon execs in an ASDA parking lot if they told him he wasn't allowed to kiss David Tennant on the mouth in front of a rolling camera. Or that you don't believe David would follow his lead.

I guess they are trying to strike a balance between keeping the fans happy and also not working with an abuser. :(

Yeah, this. :( Guess we will have to make do, and being upset about a tv show is nothing compared to what the victims went through. /tries to keep perspective
Have you watched Sandman? The final, 'extra' episode with Calliope? DAMN that hits hard.

Of course my comment was purely from the fan perspective and a response to the resolution of the series. It compares in no way to the experiences of the victims involved. As a survivor, I would never speak for another, nor make comparisons.
I haven't seen Sandman.

Most of what I've written is from that perspective too, I'm trying to remind myself...

*sends hugs*
I haven't seen Sandman.
I'm not about to tell you to, but there is a bonus episode which now reads like a confession. To cut it down to the bare bones: Calliope is the Muse of epic stories (and also Dream's ex-wife). She is being held captive/enslaved by a writer who was otherwise stuck with writers block... SA is implied, but not shown. The writer becomes very popular, a great ally and feminist, wonderful with representation when his works get adapted. And can't set Calliope free because then he won't be able to write... Basically the whole thing now looks like NG hiding in plain sight.
Anyway, Dream drives him mad and Calliope is set free, but she has no forgiveness for the writer. I forget her exact words, but they are something like 'It doesn't matter what punishment he gets, it could never bring back what was taken from me'.

Thanks for this. I see way too many- even if understandable- posts from people who just want the products/content to be burned to the ground so that the abusive creator can't make any more money from it, but don't seem to think about all of the other people whose main jobs are involved in making the products.
I wonder what's going to happen now with The Sandman series. :/

This. And all those people don't deserve to be punished.

S2 is already filming, but I'm guessing there won't be any more. Unless they get another writer to adapt the comics.
