Just a few things...
Here is a fun New Year's story:
Astounded by the nonstop fireworks
Traveler Luke Miani spent the New Year’s Eve in Iceland, and he posted a video from New Year’s Eve on TikTok that has been very popular.
~
Yesterday was three years since the Insurrection. It feels unreal.

~
I posted Chapter 11: Free the Knot (II) of 'All Breakages Must Be Paid For.
~
And I came across this beautiful quote on Tumblr:
It is sometimes so bitterly cold in the winter that one says, 'The cold is too awful for me to care whether summer is coming or not; the harm outdoes the good.' But with or without our approval, the severe weather does come to an end eventually and one fine morning the wind changes and there is the thaw. When I compare the state of the weather to our state of mind and our circumstances, subject to change and fluctuation like the weather, then I still have some hope that things may get better.
It's by Vincent van Gogh and here is the letter it's from.

I remember a friend of mine had, shortly before, encouraged me to not look too much at the news, because he thought it was a lot of stress that wasn't likely to be anything I urgently needed to know. It turned out to be possibly the most ironic timing for advice like that ever.
There was a lot of refreshing news sites, and after things calmed down, I went out over the news few days. National Guard were everywhere. I've got a photo of a bunch of them sitting on the grass at the Georgetown Waterfront park.

We just sat in front of the TV and watched the news live, in a way we never normally do... it was very worrying. :(

Although hey - maybe this will become like Bonfire Night here in the UK, and in future people will burn effigies of Trump on January 6th. ;)

I like the thought of burning that man in effigy, yearly. Here's hoping.
