Eurovision
We are at the cinema watching live! :)
So no live blogging this year... but hoping for a good show!
ETA: There is an advert for a show called 'I Kissed A Boy' which might be the gayest thing I have ever seen.
Also a lady has handed out Union Jacks, as she had plenty extra.
ETA2: This was SUCH a good idea. Eurovision should always be watched on a big screen.

If anyone was robbed it was the likes of Georgia & Latvia who didn't make the final.
What is even worse is I thought this year's Finnish entry which is in my bottom five of the thirty-seven, is slightly better than the even more atrocious one they won with several years back.
I was actually uncertain whether to put Sweden in the 3pt category, or the 2, so I probably listened to that one five, maybe six times because I was unsure. Even though it and Italy both got 3pts I liked Italy much more than Sweden's.
If I ever visit again I HAVE to get myself a KI Klasvik jersey especial like ;-)
Most of the ones people have been raving about I just do not understand the appeal; much better off watching the songs separately anyway. Being in a cinema, or other 'live' venue would not be worth the stress.
Glad you enjoyed it though.

LOL. Reminds me of Graham Norton's quip about Germany: "I really hope they don't win. It's not that I have anything against them, I just never want to hear that again." (Sidebar: My mother thought it was great.)

Ah yes.

I don't think I liked Lordi's song, but just the fact of the performance was crazy.

No disagreement there.

... I wonder if such a thing exists. I mean, to buy.

My mother commented that she'd pay NOT to go. *g* But as my new post shows, there is so much more to it, which is a big part of the appeal - the whole show is fabulous and full of wonderful things. You should watch. <3

My feeling is; think I mentioned this last year, that 26 in the final is far too many.
There's no reason why there can't be three semi-finals, or qualifiers.
You can still have the five big contributors pre-qualify, as well as the previous winners. Should that be one of the big five you can check the votes and have the next best entry out the non-qualifiers; top five from each qualifier, to make a total of 21.
Much more manageable, and you needn't have them all in the host country. Have them in three venues, with a week of events in the host country leading up to the final.
I will go through each of the entries; some of whom have non-eurovision promos for single releases, and get them in some kind of order.
A couple of the songs grew on me as I listened to them again, but the top four pretty much remained the top four through the whole process, though Norway & France gained on Estonia which itself gained so much I broke my rule for the first time and awarded them and Spain six points.
Really not too interested in all the extraneous stuff; much too much fun to go over the actual entries and have them jostle for position in my head.
Actually I was disappointed that in the semi Alika, for Estonia, wasn't playing the piano herself; was played remotely. I thought that really weakened the entry.
I recall last year; Cyprus I think it was, one song had a poor semi-final performance and a good song failed to qualify.
Never had time to put together any Eurovision posts this year, but I can hopefully do something next weekend. I do want to do some posts about all the previous contests anyway.

That sounds like a sensible compromise.

Hear hear. Norway was just so much fun! And the singer was delightful.

I shall definitely point people your way!
