Oh Twitter
Amusing/interesting/terrible stuff under the cut.
First two threads that are very different, yet deal with the same thing:
One of the things I occasionally get paid to do by companies/execs is to tell them why everything seemed to SUDDENLY go wrong, and subs/readers dropped like a stone.

So, with everything going on at Twitter rn, time for a thread about the Trust Thermocline /1
Alright, you've been waiting very patiently and I thank you. At long last: Here's the story of Halloween 2013, the night that killed one of the biggest old-school vBulletin-style internet forums. 🧵 pic.twitter.com/8TdKp7ZnWR

And here, to illustrate just how correct the above threads are:
"Mr. Musk and his advisers have discussed adding paid direct messages — which would let users send private messages to high-profile users "

sounds like a super efficient way to get celebrities to abandon your platform!https://t.co/VpRcfI7H8T
Scoop: Twitter was just sued in a proposed class action for conducting a mass layoff without the required 60 day notice https://t.co/lMoxDMo7W1

And finally:
The hilarious tragedy of Elon Musk is he really wants to post but he can’t. The man can’t post. It’s not in his blood and it never will be. He can spend all the money in the world and he’ll never be a poster. The real ones know exactly what I mean.

I'd play the world's tiniest violin, except he's destroying the entire platform...
ANYWAY. Here, have a nice upbeat song! :)
Daily Dimash: Give Me Your Love
The performance is from his Digital Concert in January 2021. It was written as a homage to Michael Jackson and is definitely suitably poppy, upbeat and ridiculously catchy. Enjoy! ^_^
Music: Dimash Qudaibergen
Lyrics: Jordan Arakelyan
Arrangement: Erlan Bekchurin

I hope they're successful (and it certainly looks like they ought to be), unfortunately he is rich enough to just carry on.
I'm starting to wonder if tanking Twitter isn't his plan because all these decisions head in that direction...
There is a whole thread on that here. I think people are generally 50/50 on whether it's deliberate or if he's just that stupid.

Just think of Jorts the cat who started out as a story about how you shouldn't butter a cat, and is now a huge uniting force for Unionisation and workers rights.
There is a reason people love their stupid hellscape, despite the gremlins.

OK, gimme a little while to find it, but I'll be back. :D

Part 1: AITA for “perpetuating ethnic stereotypes” about Jorts?
Part 2: UPDATE (this is the part about buttering, but obvs read Part 1 first)
ETA: And here is the Wiki page, I've linked to the part about advocacy.

FFS, people already get harassed on Twitter. Moff left Twitter precisely because he was getting tagged in so many abusive Tweets, I can't imagine how bad it would have been if they could have actually messaged the poor man. Olly Alexander said he wouldn't be wearing clothes from a certain brand anymore because of Johnny Depp's presence at the fashion show and within minutes people were accusing him of not caring about abuse victims.
And I still buy CDs. :'))

IKR? It's... baffling! And then couple that with all the imposters who'll pay for Blue Ticks, and you could be messaging Joe Bloggs from Texas instead of Mariah Carey.
It's impressive in its stupidity.
And I still buy CDs. :'))
I like physical copies of music! In case it all gets deleted off the cloud.
