I re-uploaded this icon
I originally uploaded this icon back in 2009 during the Green Movement protests/Persian Spring. I hope and pray this time they are successful.
So, two songs. One new, one old.
The old song/video is no longer on the internet, so I re-uploaded it (now in 3 different formats). Content warning: A lot of violence! The footage is exclusively from the 2009 protests. Very raw and powerful.
My Elementary Schoolmate (.wmv)
My Elementary Schoolmate (.flv)
My Elementary Schoolmate (.mov)
I originally saved the video from The Atlantic, and you can find the lyrics for the song here.
ETA: Lyric
A Song From 1979 (that they were singing again during the green revolution)
My elementary schoolmate.
You are with me and my comrade all the way.
We’ve suffered together.
Your tears and sighs are mines as well.
Engraved on this blackboard are our names.
Remaining on our bodies are still the scars of the lash of tyranny and injustice.
This uncultured landscape of ours is covered with weed instead of the green of grass.
Either good or bad, dead is the hearts of all its people.
Your hands and my hands must rip these veils apart.
Who else, except for you and I, could cure our wounds?
My elementary schoolmate.
You are with me and my comrade all the way.
We’ve suffered together.
Your tears and sighs are mines as well.
Engraved on this blackboard are our names.
Remaining on our bodies are still the scars of the lash of tyranny and injustice.

1. The single best way to understand Iran's uprising is not any book or essay, but Shervin Hajipour's 2m anthem "Baraye" which garnered over 40m views in 48h (before he was imprisoned). Its profundity requires multiple views. pic.twitter.com/sk0wsW0Cfh (Translation by @BBCArdalan)

I loved the lyrics, though. Just beautiful.
