Go Joss!

"How sick am I of Noxon-bashing? Enough to break my rule of silence, certainly. I've had so many people rag on her for aspects of the show I developed, or praise me for things she came up with. She's been a vital part of everything people love about Buffy since she overhauled the halloween script in season two. She's as good a story-breaker as I've ever worked with. And she's a leader.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, Vmars. You are uninformed and rude. That's mine."

Damn straight! Thank you Joss!

ETA: This of course also ties in with The Educated Fangirl's Guide To The Spike Wars!

Very cool! I'm always glad to see someone I stand up and do the right thing.

And VMars seems to hate Spike, so s/he's obviously a moron!

meh Noxon bashing is so 2002.
}I'm curios to see what she's gonna bring to Grey's anatomy htough, cause some of those relationships are becoming so lame, they're making me want to kill Macdreamy. And hey at least the marti Likes teh PrOn

It really has just gotten old. Yes, we get it. "Used the show as her own therapy", "was in lust with JM", "has bad boyfriend issues", blah, blah, blah, silly little female who can't handle being a leader cakes. So many Buffy arguments just lack originality or thought these days. It's just people regurgitating the same soundbites over and over again.

Grey's Anatomy has way bigger problems than adding a fantastic writer to their crew, that's for sure.

Eh, I stopped watching it over a year ago. You don't even need to watch to know what a mess that place is. They've got one co-star going to "rehab" to get over his bigotry, the co-star he verbally assaulted appearing to be pretty much miserable as he's forced to work with the guy, another co-star pissed over contract negotiations, one lead who's a prima donna jerk and the other lead who's apparently mad that they're building a spin-off around one of the other characters. That place is falling apart behind the scenes. I won't be surprised if it does take a major dive next year, but it won't be because of Marti.

Well, I still have a lot of issues with S6, but I blame Joss just as much as Marti because, yes, he had to approve whatever the writers came up with. I also blame Douglas Petrie for the gawd-awful "The Doctor/demon eggs" plot in As You Were.

I'm curious how I'm going to feel about S6 when I finally get to it in my planned rewatch of the series.

Oh man, to be publicly bitchslapped by JOSS. Talk about humiliation.

He really had an unatural love for all things Riley.

To be honest, it always comes over as being majorly sycophantic on that board to me. I'm surprised they (vmars) didn't get banned after the first comment, personally. Especially once God let the Board know of his displeasure!

Wow. What a tussle. Whedonesque usually doesn't run into such ridiculousness. Hearing from joss on such a stern level is strange to read, but I'm glad he spoke up. The Noxon bash still existing so strongly all these years later is a tad ridiculous. I've certainly been guilty of the occasional Noxon joke in the past, as I think most have. But these days, I'm happy to see any ME writer getting work! Maybe Marti will show GA how to do some things right. Lord only knows they need the help.

Heee

It's actually kind of amusing hearing him talk about Riley and his awsome/coolness when he first appears as a soldier on The initiative. The man's such a Fangirl.

[identity profile] sp23.livejournal.com 2007-03-15 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, Dude, really. I was listening to his DVD commentary for whatever Riley episode it was, and you could practically hear him masturbating while he talked about Marc Blucas. I nearly hurled. :)

Yeah, I'm thinking because I *know* what's going to happen I'll just be able to sit back and watch it to see the twists and turns of everyone's breakdowns without hoping for something that'll never come. I know, though, that I'm still going to fast forward through the interminable and awful runaway magic scene with Willow and Amy in The Bronze in Smashed. And that has nothing to do with wanting to get back to the knocking-down-the-house sex scenes. ;P

Yeah, further down Simon came on and said he'd been playing a video game. Then he banned vmars.

Quite. Though I think I have more issues with S7 - I see S6 as ambitious but flawed. But while I don't think Marti did a very good job as showrunner, there's not a lot of point in going on about it now. And truly, the buck stops with Joss.

I had high hopes for season 7, but it just went nowhere, except, and this is a big exception, for the Spike arc. His arc, the way he fought through his madness, fought off the first evil, fought to become his own man (always aided by Buffy. I will give her her props here), made the season worthwhile to me. But for anything else, it just didn't add up to what we'd come to expect from BtVS, I don't think.

Exactly. Disappointed as I was in the way they handled S/B, from a storytelling perspective I was far, far more disappointed in the way the rest of the characters were left dangling. (And in the way the First Evil plotline just fell apart like wet cardboard.) At least S & B had a story.

Oh man! I'm so glad he defended her! I'm so sick of hearing how Marti "ruined" the show. I think she's great. Go Joss!

[identity profile] lusciousxander.livejournal.com 2007-03-16 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
I've posted about it yesterday in my LJ. :)

http://lusciousxander.livejournal.com/57340.html

My thoughts about this are: It was so sweet of Joss to defend Marti. I'm not a big fan of S7, especially the Empty Places scene. But I won't blame Marti for that. All the writers are to be blamed and Joss on top of them.

[identity profile] lusciousxander.livejournal.com 2007-03-16 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
They can have Touched and more touching Spuffy scenes without ruining the rest of my favorite characters for me. :)

[identity profile] lusciousxander.livejournal.com 2007-03-17 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
That wasn't the part that ruined them for me. I do think they have the right to refuse to fall in line, but I didn't like Dawn asking Buffy to leave and then none of the others followed her, they didn't even talk about her in the next episode. I don't think the Scoobies would be like that with Buffy, we've seen them fight in the past but it wasn't like this. All of them became traitors? One or two should have at least stuck by Buffy's side to make the scene believable. Or maybe have Xander and Willow still be in the hospital, have Dawn with them as well.

It felt like a bad written Spuffy (or Spander) fic where all the Scoobies gang up on Buffy (or Xander) and Spike is the only one who cares. This is my honest opinion, I've always tried to understand the scene, heck, I've written many essays explaining the scene, but then I'd read many threads about "Scoobies the traitors" and hate the scene more. Maybe I should just stick to watching the episode and stop visiting net boards. :)

Or read a well written essay about it, but I don't really remember someone talking about it from the Scoobies' angle.
