Am not feeling great myself - just sort of all over achy, so I guess we'll see how it goes. If the daily posts stop because of actual covid I'll appreciate the irony for sure...

Daily Dimash: Thousands Of Miles A Common Dream

The song is based on the poetry of Zhang Jiuling of the Tang Dynasty. The poem was written to comfort friends who are about to travel a long journey.

Go to youtube to see more info/story/lyrics. All I'll note here is that Dimash dedicated the song to the medical workers of the Wuhan Union Hospital (the song was recorded on Jan. 8, 2020). The main objective of this show is to popularize the Chinese traditional fine arts among the young people through pop culture by having pop stars sing the texts of ancient poetry out to the audience.

True. But he did have basically all the symptoms - as he said, if the test had come back negative he'd have been very annoyed.

When I went to urgent care for my chest pain and they finally tested me, the nurse came in and was like 'well, good news: you don't have covid.' And I was just like 'well then what the fuck have I been doing for the past three weeks?'

(NB: I did not swear at the nurse. She was very nice.)

I remember reading about someone who had to have four tests before they got a positive. Tests are not 100%...

Well, and they did a rapid test, and it had been three weeks. I figured I'd just managed to clear most of the active virus out of my system at that point. Or at least out of my nasal passages. But it was like 'yeah, don't tell me this isn't covid.'

Ah. Well, those tests aren't all that reliable...

Is the stuffed nose characteristic of the delta variant? I feel like I remember reading that somewhere. Because back in the old days *hitches up trousers* that was usually a signal that it wasn't covid.

Yup. The delta variant can look like a common cold, so that's fun!

Although it then added a temperature, aches & pains, and loss of taste and smell. So almost a full classic set.

Yeah, so far that aspect seems to be working!

apparently (according to the ZOE covid symptom app people) shortness of breath is less common with Delta & in particular if you've had both jabs.

We've only had the one jab, but still seem to have escaped that particular aspect. And it definitely seems to be the Delta one, going by the rest of the symptoms.
