Year 2 of Lockdown, Day 94

Via Owls, this incredible thread. Think you know cave paintings? Think again.

And I don't want to amplify them, BUT. From The Irish Times:

GB News, week 1: It takes until Tuesday to go full wingnut

Daily Dimash: My Swan

Can't think of a clever way to link things together today. So you get a 'random' song, but one of the most melodically beautiful and heartbreaking. You might not know it, but you need a sad Kazakh love song with swan imagery in your life, trust me! (For those who have read my Seeker 'verse, this song has now been added as part of the story of Alex/Allison, more info under cut.) There are many other performances, some with subtitles (as well as an official music video) all of which I'll post it under the cut as well as other performances) but live performances are always better with Dimash, and this one is just... *waves hands* No clever vocal acrobatics, just an incredibly moving song. As one reactor put it: When he performs live, he has a remarkable way of reaching through the moment.

My Swan/Aqqúym (Arnau - Nur-Sultan, 29.06.2019) [I am so sad this has been taken down. It was gorgeous and he got the crowd to sing along...]

Dimash My Swan D-dynasty Moscow (22.03.2019) with English subtitles

Fancams, sound generally not great:

Moscow

Dimash Qudaibergen - Akkuym / My Swan [Official MV]

ETA: Reaction video to the MV, very insightful:

And two duets (mmm, so gorgeous and lots of clever vocal trills for these performances):

From his Bastau 2017 concert, singing with Maira Mukhammedkyzy:

And an earlier performance, from pre-The Singer, judging by his haircut.

Oh and here's a good reaction video [to the Moscow performance]

(For those curious about the 'Dating the Cleverest Boy in the World' changes, check out the end of Chapter 9 and the very beginning of Chapter 10.)

ETA:

"Akkuym / My Swan" at a Kuidanbergen family/friend gathering.

That's very cool to think that if we replicate the conditions that the cave art will appear to have motion. The first darkened theaters...
