Lockdown Update Day 120
15 July 2020 09:59 pmSo, tonight I watched The Sound of Music (for fic purposes, since it's been at least 10 years since last time), and it's funny the things that strike you. I had no recollection of this specific exchange. It's the bit where Rolfe is throwing pebbles at Liesl's window, and the Captain surprises him and the boy goes all flustered.
Rolfe: Oh, Captain von Trapp. I was just looking for... I didn't see, I mean, I didn't know you were-- Heil Hitler!
The Captain: Who are you?
Rolfe: I have a telegram for Herr Detweiler.
Max: I am Herr Detweiler.
Rolfe: Yes, sir.
The Captain: You've delivered your telegram. Now get out.
The Baroness: Georg, he's just a boy.
The Captain: Yes, and I'm just an Austrian.
Max: Things will happen. Make sure they don't happen to you.
The Captain: Max! Don't you ever say that again.
Max: I have no political convictions. Can I help it if other people do?
The Captain: You can help it. You must help it.
~~
It's such a sweet, wholesome movie, and yet it has a lot to say about politics. Including 'If your boyfriend gets radicalised, let him go'.
That's all for today. ♥
