Secondly, then... I'm not surprised by the election result? I've had this sense that we need to hit rock bottom before beginning to move back up. Britain has never sat down and examined its past and dealt with it (the way, say, Germany was forced to). But I still wish this wasn't the path we were going down, because there is likely to be a lot more 'down' before we go back up.
Now people are saying 'You'll survive this!' Which is nice, but inaccurate. People have died already. Poverty is soaring. Homelessness is growing. Disabled people are suffering, and racism is having its moment in the sun (Tommy Robinson joined the Tories!), the list just goes on. Yes, the country might survive (although - silver lining - Ireland might re-unite! And godspeed to Scotland having another referendum), but many people won't. Not to mention the impact if the NHS goes.
(Sidebar: We will be spending the next five years saying: Corbyn warned us. Just like the Americans have Clinton.)
Anyway, I'll go back to writing Good Omens fic now. I need something to cheer me, and Good Omens is honestly the perfect show.
